Maybe you’ve heard of Bumble. It is a dating app that came out a year ago, where girls made the first move. It was a huge success with over 1,500,000 users signed up in the first six months. They started to notice a trend, though; girls were using the app to meet new friends while traveling or when they moved to a new city.

I write written a couple posts on here about how to make friends when you travel and I mention that in the past, as a solo traveler, I used Couchsurfing to try and connect with girls. Sadly, it’s gone a bit downhill with creepy people on it and I haven’t logged in in years. Until now, I hadn’t found an app to help you meet new friends while traveling. Enter Bumble BFF.

How Bumble BFF works

So, I’ve been out of the dating game a long time and having seen Tinder or any dating apps. Regardless, I found this very easy to use.

You link you account to Facebook and set up a photo. You can add fun filters if you want to. Then you double check it got your location right. Next is where you choose why you’re using Bumble. You can click “BFF” and then your profile won’t show up those looking for a date on the site, therefore avoiding the entire dating aspect if you wish to.

With that feature, your boyfriend can’t get made at your having a “dating” app on your site!

Start using Bumble by simply swiping right girls you think could make a new bestie and then waiting. They have to swipe back then you can start chatting.

It brings up the results based on where you are, so you can’t find your travel partners before you take off. Once you arrive on holiday, you can then log in and see who’s around to chill with. This is especially fun even if you are traveling with a friend but want a group of girls to go out with.

If you want to use it for both dating and finding friends, the app color codes the BFFs in your chat a different color than possible boyfriends.
