I'm returning to India, (via Nepal) in December, and was thinking of getting a tuk-tuk, but an Omni sounds a better and more comfortable and security wise, better bet. Thanks for any info. I will be in India & Nepal for 6 or more months, and traveling anti-clockwise down to Sri Lanka & back up the east coast. Was planning on doing train & bus, but Omni sounds a good alternative, EXCEPT for obtaining all relevant permits and driving documents. Thanks for great blog, Englishmanrick:-)

have been born and brought up in Mumbai, I realised if you can drive in Mumbai , You can drive any where in the world , and I am a good example of that ….

in Goa the driving is made doubly horrendous due to the state of the roads and the living speed breakers, cows, goats , pigs , snakes Yup like the Python, in your case ! we see mongooses here , a monitor lizard or two and now of late peacocks ,strutting colourfully … enjoying your blog this Sunday, you have’nt been to see much of N E India ? Shillong , Tinsukia , Gangtok ..? Beautiful places for mountains and valleys , Driving is also great ..!!

In reply to Shashank Rao. Hahahah I can just picture that!! Yes, I'm told they were illegal in some big cities because they were driving around kidnapping girls - but now are legal again. You do see less of them.

Omni is a great car. I used to go to school in an Omni. About 13-14 of us packed in one. And it is the most preferred vehicle for abductions in Bollywood and maybe in real too.. :D The sliding door is very convenient, you see..
