that First one about 6 months should be changed, finally México is enforcing immigration. You are no longer guaranteed 6 months. If you overstay you could be nabbed & deported.

I should have mentioned you can actually drive to Mexico from the US, which makes it very attractive for those moving a lot of their belongings to their new permanent home.

I’m wondering what are the necessary fees and what are the optional fees? Obviously an inspection or appraisal is optional, right? (You’re paying with cash so there’s no financing involved.)
If fees are fixed it makes buying cheap properties in Mexico along the coast very unattractive.
Why not pick another country like Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama or Colombia? Some even choose Guatemala though that may not be so great for a beach destination.
I think Mexico’s main attraction is its proximity to home for Americans and Canadians. Probably the pandemic has made people far more conservative and cautious when it comes to “getting home” easily and geographic location means a lot. No sane person is going to hop on a bus in Nicaragua for the US and have to endure the war like areas of El Salvador and Honduras, not to mention areas of Guatemala. (OK you wouldn’t necessarily have to go through El Salvador.)

Great article.
I would add a few things that we have found to be way more affordable.
Car repair and servicing.
Car insurance. (About 1/3 or less)
Any vet bills.
Dental.
Bike repair. (My husband brought his bike and just had it totally gone over for practically nothing.)
Remodeling costs and products.

This is such an extensive article! It literally answers all my questions. My husband and I are thinking to try to go to live in Mexico during sometime but we are having some doubts.
