In reply to Mary (Maggy) M Boone. We knew someone from there who told us how great it was so we came for a visit and loved it. We aren't city people so like that it's a very small city and just 30 min from the beach :) PLus it's super safe

Hi Rachel, how did you pick Merida as your Mexico homebase? I’ve been wanting to move to Mexico (specifically CDMX) for a while now and I don’t know how to make it happen! any advice?? Love your blog!

Lol omgsh – what a lucky duck! We need that to happen for us now in Merida. We want to find the perfect plot of land and build a house here. It’s very “sell crazy high prices of crap land to gringos” around here, though.

‘So cool that you got to buy a boat just like that. That is the beauty of travel, random meetings and crazy incidents!

A German girlfriend of mine, bought a house in a similar manner. She was a little tipsy at the time and someone was going on about how they had a house on the cliffs in Cape Town (South Africa), and wanted to sell it.

She then said she’s buy it,.and signed the contract the next day. She hadn’t seen it or anything. We all thought it was hilarious!

I went to visit her many years ago. It’s a beautiful cliff-top home in prime estate, opposite the sea!
