Local Nathalie is here to give you a complete guide!</p>
<p>The multicultural identity and access to numerous outdoor activities make Vancouver, BC a joy to visit. Whether you plan to enjoy local Asian-influenced cuisine, people watch in a café, or head out into the mountains or onto the ocean, I have a list of recommendations for where to stay in Vancouver.</p>
<p>My parents immigrated to Vancouver as children and have lived here ever since. Some of my earliest memories are going nature walks, museum visits, and hikes in this beautiful city. Being of Taiwanese descent, finding the best places for Asian food has been a lifelong adventure that I continue to take part in (with enthusiasm, might I add). As a lover of music and dance, the city provides amazing opportunities for both free festivals and paid concerts regardless of the time of year you visit.</p>
<p>Vancouver is split up into multiple neighborhoods, each with their distinct charm and flavor. I’ll provide a simple explanation of each neighborhood’s personality prior to listing accommodation.</p>
<p>Note that Richmond, while not part of Vancouver, provides proximity to our main airport (YVR) and thus has been included in this post.</p>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">Where to Stay in Richmond</h2>
<p>Richmond provides easy access to Vancouver International Airport, in addition to some of the best Asian cuisine in the region. Whether you have an early morning flight to catch and don’t feel like venturing far, or are a huge foodie and want to make meals the focal point of your trip, Richmond offers the best of both worlds.</p>
<p>One can easily access beautiful walks along the ocean and fuel up afterwards with dim sum, dumplings, noodles, and bubble tea abound.</p>
<p>Sights of interest include the historic fishing village of Steveston, the Olympic Oval, and Aberdeen Centre &#8211; a mall fusing Eastern and Western shops with an outstanding food court full of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Hong Kong cuisine.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">Where to Stay in Vancouver</h2>
<h3>Mount Pleasant</h3>
<p>A chic, trendy haven for lovers of vintage fashion, independent coffee shops, and brunch spots. 33 Acres Brewing and Brassneck Brewery are two local craft beer companies where you can pop in for a pint or taster flight.</p>
<p>The annual Vancouver Mural Festival has resulted in a plethora of beautiful street art on the sides of several buildings in <a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/vancouver/mount-pleasant-airbnbs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mount Pleasant</a>, providing plenty of opportunities for Instagram photos!</p>

<h3>West Side &#8211; Kitsilano and Point Grey/UBC</h3>
<p><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/vancouver/kitsilano" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kitsilano</a> and Point Grey are the western-most part of Vancouver (not downtown Vancouver). Kitsilano is a hipster’s paradise with independent boutiques and cafes, many of which are found along West 4th Avenue. Vanier Park, Kits Beach, and Spanish Banks as popular enjoyable hangout spots year-round (Bonus: lots of dogs).</p>
<p>The University of British Columbia (UBC) Vancouver Campus is situated in Point Grey and makes for a great day trip to explore the university buildings, gardens, Wreck Beach, Beatty Biodiversity Museum and the Museum of Anthropology.</p>

</ul>
<h2 class="mceTemp">&nbsp;</h2>
<h3>Granville Island</h3>
<p>Once housing factories, warehouses, and mills, many of these old buildings have been converted into restaurants, artisan studios, and performance venues. Located just outside the downtown core, <a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/vancouver/granville-island" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Granville Island</a> offers a beautiful waterfront walk along False Creek with views of the Vancouver cityscape.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">Where to Stay in Vancouver Downtown</h2>
<p>The 4 official districts of the downtown core are Yaletown, Gastown, Vancouver Downtown, and the West End; but I will break the area down further along with some personally recommendations. While there are no accommodation spaces in Gastown, one can find tourist shops, cobblestone streets, and the famous steam clock. Gastown is easily walkable from Coal Harbour.</p>
<h3>Coal Harbour/Waterfront</h3>
<p>As you probably guessed by its name, <a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/vancouver/coal-harbour" target="_blank" rel="noopener">this once-former shipyard</a> is where you can see docking cruise ships alongside a gorgeous waterfront promenade. The sight of the Olympic Flame and the Convention Centre, a walk through this district is a surprisingly calm break from the hustle and bustle of the middle of downtown. Local tip: Stop by Soirette Pastry Boutique for freshly baked goodies and macarons.</p>
<h4>Hotels near the Waterfront</h4>
<ul>
<li><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/vancouver/hotel-fairmont-pacific-rim" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hotel Fairmont Pacific Rim</a></li>
<li><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/vancouver/westin-bayshore" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Westin Bayshore</a></li>
<li><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/vancouver/loden-hotel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Loden Hotel</a></li>
</ul>
<h3>Yaletown</h3>
<p><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/vancouver/yaletown" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yaletown</a> is dominated by waterfront parks and restaurant patios. The Roundhouse Community Centre is the sight of the first engine used in a transcontinental passenger train (Yaletown was once the end of the line for the Canadian Pacific Railway). Old warehouses have been converted into cozy restaurants where flocks of people descend for post-work happy hour drinks. Local tip: Minami is a splurge-worthy sushi restaurant that specializes in aburi (flame-seared pressed sushi). For brunch lovers OEB is a must-visit.</p>

<li><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/vancouver/hotel-blu-vancouver" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hotel BLU Vancouver</a></li>
</ul>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">West End</h3>
<p>The <a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/vancouver/west-end" target="_blank" rel="noopener">West End</a> is the location of choice for easy access to beaches, restaurants, and Stanley Park (our version of Central Park). English bay is one of our most popular beaches, and also where you can watch the Celebration of Light Fireworks competition in July and August. Stanley Park provides opportunities to visit the Vancouver Aquarium, bike the seawall, and enjoy time in nature while still being close to the city.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">Where to Stay in North Vancouver</h2>
<h3>Lonsdale</h3>
<p>Technically part of North Vancouver, Lonsdale is separated from the Vancouver downtown by a ride on the SeaBus. Once a shipyard, Lonsdale boasts a number of trendy restaurants and pubs, in addition to waterfront views. The Quay itself is host to many independent businesses. North Vancouver is where you want to stay for convenient access to recreational activities such as hiking and mountain-biking in the summer, and skiing and snowboarding in the winter.</p>
<h4>Hotels in Lonsdale</h4>
<ul>
<li><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/north-vancouver/lonsdale-quay-hotel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lonsdale Quay Hotel</a></li>
<li><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/north-vancouver/pinnacle-hotel-at-the-pier" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier</a></li>

<p>While Vancouver downtown remains the focal point of a lot of vacations, I highly recommend exploring outside the downtown core to really experience the city in all its glory. Brunch in Mount Pleasant, a walk in Pacific Spirit Park in Point Grey, finished off with dinner and bubble tea in Richmond; the possibilities are endless!</p>

Check out these things to do in Richmond, BC!</strong></p>
<p class="p2">I’ve always said that my luxe fantasy would be a private, live-in Chinese chef who hand-shredded chicken, plumped shrimp dumplings, steamed black fungi, and served dim sum on Sunday mornings. So far, I haven’t gotten the live-in part, but I found Chinese food nirvana in Richmond BC, <a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/northamerica/canada/">Canada</a>.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp; </span>I also found a bunch of things to do and see in Richmond that made me feel like I was in China, without the long flight and jetlag.</p>
<p class="p2">“Seriously, Canada?” you’re probably thinking. Yes, or <i>shi, </i>as Chinese people say.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp; </span>The Vancouver International Airport is located on the island city of Richmond. But everyone around me was speaking Chinese, signs were in Chinese, the culture was Chinese, but this was Canada. “What’s going on here?” I wondered.</p>
<p>I&#8217;d soon discover just how rich in Chinese culture, Richmond was.</p>
<h2 class="p2" style="text-align: center;">Best Things to Do in Richmond, B.C.</h2>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-29853" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/mall-tai-chi-richmond.jpeg" alt="" width="480" height="480" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/mall-tai-chi-richmond-66x66.jpeg 66w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/mall-tai-chi-richmond-150x150.jpeg 150w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/mall-tai-chi-richmond-200x200.jpeg 200w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/mall-tai-chi-richmond-300x300.jpeg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/mall-tai-chi-richmond-400x400.jpeg 400w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/mall-tai-chi-richmond.jpeg 480w" sizes="(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px" /></p>
<h3 class="p2">Try tai chi at the Richmond Centre</h3>
<p class="p2">When I think of China, tai chi leaps to mind. I remember walking through parks in China and watching groups of people gliding gracefully from one tai chi move to the next in the early morning hours. And guess what? The same thing is going on in Richmond, but it’s indoors.</p>
<p class="p2">I followed an insider tip and went to the<strong> <a href="https://www.cfshops.com/richmond-centre.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Richmond Centre</a></strong> at 8 a.m., before it opened to the public. I wandered around and throughout the mall, I found tai chi and Chinese dance and exercise classes for students of all ages. As I stood and watched, a teacher invited me to join one of the free tai chi classes. Of course, I was clueless, but the students were patient and helped me with the basic moves. I loved it and went back again two days later for more tai chi. Highly recommended, as it’s a chance for you to exercise and meet Chinese locals.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-29852" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/buddhist-temple-offering-richmond.jpeg" alt="" width="480" height="640" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/buddhist-temple-offering-richmond-200x267.jpeg 200w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/buddhist-temple-offering-richmond-225x300.jpeg 225w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/buddhist-temple-offering-richmond-400x533.jpeg 400w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/buddhist-temple-offering-richmond.jpeg 480w" sizes="(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px" /></p>
<h3 class="p2">Experience Chinese spirituality</h3>
<p class="p2">Visitors of all cultures, backgrounds, religions, and beliefs are welcome at Buddhist centers.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp; </span>A Chinese couple explained to me that Buddhism is not a religion; it is a philosophy and a way of life.<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp; </span>And I met a young woman from Taiwan who said: “In Chinese culture, we believe that everything has life—stones, vegetables, plants.”</p>
<p class="p2">When I asked her what I might expect at a temple, she thought for a moment and replied, “The divinities like the smell of incense. You can buy some yourself, and make an offering if you wish. You can pray for something like safe travels.”</p>
<h3 class="p2">Visit the International Buddhist Temple</h3>
<p class="p2">The temple gardens are magical, and you’ll love the shrine of golden Buddhas and the Thousand Buddha Hall.</p>
<h3 class="p4"><span class="s2">Heal at the </span>Energy Bagua Wellness Center</h3>
<p>I found out about an unusual new form of moving meditation called Energy Bagua which is designed to help students find relief from physical and emotional suffering and restore inner balance.&nbsp; You may work up a sweat by the deceptively simple act of circling around an indoor potted tree to experience healing and peace.</p>
<p>It was so unusual that I spoke to numerous participants and they reported a significant reduction in symptoms and feelings of wellbeing. I tried it myself and found it simple, soothing, and a gentle form of exercise.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-29854" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/pineapple-buns-richmond.jpeg" alt="" width="640" height="480" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/pineapple-buns-richmond-200x150.jpeg 200w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/pineapple-buns-richmond-300x225.jpeg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/pineapple-buns-richmond-400x300.jpeg 400w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/pineapple-buns-richmond-600x450.jpeg 600w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/pineapple-buns-richmond-610x458.jpeg 610w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/pineapple-buns-richmond.jpeg 640w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></p>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">Where to Eat in Richmond</h2>
<p class="p2">Before the handover of <a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/guide-to-hong-kong-best-hidden-eateries/">Hong Kong</a> to China in 1997, a wave of people arrived from Hong Kong. Among them were high-end restaurant owners and top chefs, which means one of the best things to do in Richmond, BC is to eat.</p>
<p class="p2">Today, on this small Canadian island with 216,000 inhabitants, there are an unbelievable 400 Chinese restaurants serving authentic Szechuan, Cantonese, Xingjiang, and Shanghainese food.</p>
<p class="p2">Some places are palatial and others are holes-in-the-wall. At first, I thought I was lucky because I stumbled on the right restaurants. But by the end of my visit, I realized that there’s no such thing as a bad Asian eatery in Richmond. You can dine well on any budget, and exciting new Asian restaurants are opening all the time. Here are some specific picks for where you can please your palate.</p>
<h3 class="p2">Lido</h3>
<p class="p2">Go for breakfast and try the local fave – pineapple buns</p>
<h3 class="p2">Banh Mi Tres Bon</h3>
<p class="p2">At lunchtime, order a steaming bowl of chicken phô</p>
<h3 class="p2">HK BBQ Master</h3>
<p class="p2">You’ll find barbecue perfection in this underground parking lot</p>
<h3 class="p2">Alexander Street</h3>
<p class="p2">Choose from hot pot, sushi, Korean, Chengdu, and <i>robata </i>(Japanese) restaurants</p>
<h3 class="p2">Parker Place Mall</h3>
<p class="p2">Try the&nbsp;<i>matcha</i><i> </i>redbean milkshakes and iced mango durian drinks in this food court</p>
<h3 class="p2">Too Two Chinese Sauerkraut Fish</h3>
<p class="p2">For a new taste sensation, order pricey spicy fish and dozens of side dishes.</p>
<h3 class="p2">iTofu Dessert Specialty Shop</h3>
<p class="p2">You’ll want to nominate their original tofucotta for a dessert hall of fame</p>

That’s how I found <strong>Mount Pleasant, Vancouver</strong>, an up and coming neighborhood south of downtown.</p>
<p>Completely by coincidence, my most recent trip to Vancouver overlapped with a family friend’s need of a house sitter. She was jetting off on vacation and offered her Mount Pleasant apartment – I quickly Google Mapped the location and found it a few blocks off Main Street. “There’s plenty to do here, lots of trendy cafes and vintage shops and everything’s bike-able!” she informed me. My last, disastrous, experience on a bike flashed before my eyes. I had a rental car though, so if Mount Pleasant, Vancouver turned out to be a dud, at least I could drive to wherever the action was.</p>
<p>Let’s just say I didn’t need to worry! From my first wander down Main Street, I fell in love with colorful and eclectic Mount Pleasant… and have recommended it as a neighborhood to stay in and explore ever since.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">Where is Mount Pleasant, Vancouver?</h3>
<p>Mount Pleasant is a relatively new neighborhood in Vancouver. The area south of Vancouver’s downtown peninsula used to be simply East and West Vancouver, divided by <strong>Main Street</strong>. It’s now a much more nuanced area. Over the last twenty years, the area in between East and West Vancouver (or Mount Pleasant as we now call it!) has developed its own unique atmosphere – somewhat hip, somewhat chilled, a little bit residential, and a lot of good food.</p>
<p>Mount Pleasant technically runs from 2nd Avenue down to 16th avenue, with Cambie and Clark forming the East and West boundaries. However, Mount Pleasant pretty smoothly runs into the South Main neighborhood, which makes up the area around Main Street south of 16th street. Most places discuss Mount Pleasant and South Main (or “SoMA”) together, and in my experience, you want to explore them together, too. The vibe is pretty much the same throughout, with some of the best restaurants in SoMA, although things thin out a bit the further south you go.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">Why Visit Mount Pleasant Neighborhood in Vancouver?</h3>
<p>Not only do you need to visit Mount Pleasant and SoMa the next time you’re in Vancouver, but I would really recommend you stay there, too! Our little Mount Pleasant apartment was the perfect home base to explore Vancouver. Compared to downtown Vancouver, there’s a slower and more relaxed pace of life. I felt more like a local and less like a tourist, which is how I love to travel.</p>
<p>You can spend entire days walking down Main Street and exploring Mount Pleasant’s residential streets. Mount Pleasant has tons of restaurants and boutiques, as well as practical features like a Save On Foods, a liquor store, and on street parking.</p>
<p>The neighborhood is also really well connected. You can easily hop on the Canada Line (part of the Vancouver-wide Sky Train public transport). This will take you north into downtown Vancouver, or south to the airport.</p>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">What to Do in Mount Pleasant Vancouver</h2>
<p>Whether you’re staying in Mount Pleasant, or just exploring for the afternoon, there is plenty to keep you occupied. I would recommend giving yourself time to explore. The magic of this neighborhood comes in stumbling across hidden gems.</p>
<p>If you like going in with a plan though (I can’t blame you – I do too!), here are some of my favorite finds in Mount Pleasant.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">Shopping</h3>
<p>There are sooo many boutiques, thrift stores, and gift shops to check out in Mount Pleasant and SoMa. To be honest, you’ll find 99% of these along Main Street itself, so my advice is to dedicate a morning or afternoon to walking up and down each side of the street.</p>
<h3>Thrift shops</h3>
<p>The neighborhood is absolutely overflowing with vintage and thrift shops – the cool kind that often sells trendy labels at a massive discount. Check out some of my favorites:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Turnabout</strong></li>
<li><strong>F as in Frank Vintage</strong></li>
<li><strong>8th and Main</strong></li>
</ul>
<h3>Pulp Fiction Independent Bookstore</h3>
<p>An absolutely incredible bookstore worth wandering through, whether you’re in the market for a new read or not. It’s one of the largest independent bookstores in Canada.</p>
<h3>Much and Little</h3>
<p>A very chic boutique which sells a variety of handmade items, ranging from delicate jewelry to home goods. Basically I want to stock my entire future house from this boutique.</p>
<h3>Bird on a Wire Creations</h3>
<p>This is a cute craft shop which is all about buying local. You can browse around at products made by local Vancouver artisans. This is definitely where I’d go if you’re looking for new stationary or cards to send. You can also sign up for a workshop!</p>
<h3>The Corner Store</h3>
<p>This is a shop at the corner of 10th and Main that specializes in menswear. It carries labels like Nike, Champion, Adidas, Jordan, and more. To be honest I did not feel cool enough to be in this store!</p>
<h3>Pink Flamingo Pop Ups</h3>
<p>Pink Flamingo Pop Up shop is situated on 11th and Main. This is basically a retail space that hosts a huge variety of different shops – almost always some unique small business with a local Vancouver twist. Definitely check it out and be surprised by whatever is currently open!</p>
<h3>Urban Source</h3>
<p>Urban Source is a gift shop and supply company that is definitely for the artsy among us. They specialize in art supplies such as paper, stamps, pens, and more. I loved wandering through and admiring all the different stationary.</p>
<h3>Shops in SoMa</h3>
<p>Head further south on Main Street and there are tons more shops to explore. Some of my favorites in this area include the Regional Assembly of Text for stationery and literary vibes, Front and Company for all things boho chic and thrift, and Organic Acres Market for the bougie food market dreams are made of.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">Activities and sightseeing</h3>
<p>I’ll be completely honest and say that <span style="font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;">Mount Pleasant is a neighborhood for eating, shopping, and exploring. </span><span style="font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;">It’s a place to go for relaxation and wandering, like an <strong><a href="http://shrsl.com/222z1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Instagram walking tour</a> </strong>or a <a href="http://shrsl.com/222z8" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"><strong>Street art and craft beer tour</strong></a> &#8211; </span><span style="font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;">not adrenaline filled activities or iconic sights. Nevertheless there are definitely still some activities and sights you should check out while in the neighborhood! </span></p>
<h3>Wander along Main Street</h3>
<p>Main Street is clearly the heart of the neighborhood. Make sure to spend some time walking up and down the street, popping into shops, and enjoying the view toward downtown Vancouver where skyscrapers meet the mountains.</p>
<h3>Explore the residential neighborhoods – by bike or foot</h3>
<p>I loved wandering through Mount Pleasant, off of Main Street, and admiring the houses. Most streets are shaded by old trees, and lined in stunning homes. The housing market in Vancouver is notoriously outrageous so it’s kind of fun to imagine yourself living in one of these places!</p>
<p>I’d recommend heading to the <strong>Mount Pleasant Park</strong> off 16th Avenue and using this as a starting point to explore the residential streets.</p>
<h3>Visit Dude Chilling Park</h3>
<p>Perhaps my favorite find in Mount Pleasant was this sign in <strong>Guelph Park</strong>. Apparently, a few years ago a cheeky Vancouver artist erected this sign in Guelph Park, that read “Dude Chilling Park.” This was meant to poke fun at a statue in the park, which is titled “Reclining Figure.” Vancouverites have a major sense of humor though, so when the city officials removed the sign for being “vandalism,” they petitioned for the sign to be returned and instated as a piece of public art itself!</p>
<div id="attachment_29558" style="width: 1010px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img aria-describedby="caption-attachment-29558" decoding="async" class="wp-image-29558 size-full" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/innocent-ice-cream-mount-pleasant-vancouver.jpeg" alt="Innocent Ice Cream in Mount Pleasant, Vancouver" width="1000" height="667" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/innocent-ice-cream-mount-pleasant-vancouver-200x133.jpeg 200w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/innocent-ice-cream-mount-pleasant-vancouver-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/innocent-ice-cream-mount-pleasant-vancouver-400x267.jpeg 400w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/innocent-ice-cream-mount-pleasant-vancouver-600x400.jpeg 600w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/innocent-ice-cream-mount-pleasant-vancouver-610x407.jpeg 610w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/innocent-ice-cream-mount-pleasant-vancouver-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/innocent-ice-cream-mount-pleasant-vancouver-800x534.jpeg 800w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/innocent-ice-cream-mount-pleasant-vancouver.jpeg 1000w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /><p id="caption-attachment-29558" class="wp-caption-text"><a href="https://www.endlessdistances.com/gluten-free-vancouver-canada-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Innocent Ice Cream via Sarah Bence</em></a></p></div>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">Where to Eat &amp; Drink in Mount Pleasant</h2>
<h3>Coffee Shops</h3>
<p>Vancouver is known for its coffee scene, and there are plenty of places to get a good cup of (locally brewed!) jo while in Mount Pleasant. I actually made it a tradition each morning to get up and try a new coffee shop. Some of my favorites are:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>49th Parallel</strong></li>
<li><strong>JJ Bean Coffee Roasters</strong></li>
<li><strong>Kafka’s Coffee and Tea</strong></li>
<li><strong>Liberty Bakery &amp; Café – </strong>this is actually more in the SoMa area but worth the walk!</li>
</ul>
<p>Oh man, is Mount Pleasant full of great spots to eat. Unlike downtown Vancouver, Kitsilano, or other more established Vancouver neighborhoods, you won’t find many overpriced or super fancy restaurants in Mount Pleasant. Instead you have trendy, edgy, mouthwatering food at unpretentious prices. I could list way too many restaurants, so I’ll limit this to my five favorites.</p>
<h3>Toshi Sushi</h3>
<p><strong>Toshi Sushi</strong> is this tiny, and I mean tiny, sushi place in 16th Avenue. Despite their small size this place has fast become a legend in Mount Pleasant for its fresh sushi. On any given night, the line is close to a block out the door. So give yourself time and come early to grab a seat and some sushi!</p>
<h3>Meet on Main</h3>
<p><strong>Meet</strong> is a 100% vegan restaurant that specializes in “healthy comfort food.” This translates to barbeque kimchi poutine, veggie burgers dripping in special sauce, and pretty much the best French fries of my entire life. I ate here two nights in a row because, basically, how could I not?</p>
<h3>The Acorn</h3>
<p>Like Meet on Main, <strong>the Acorn</strong> is a plant based restaurant. However, instead of offering a twist on fast food, The Acorn prides itself on high end, creative dishes. This is definitely the place to head if you’re looking for a fancier night to celebrate something special. <a href="https://www.bonappetit.com/city-guides/vancouver/venue/the-acorn" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Acorn has been lauded in<em> Bon Appetit Magazine</em></a>, as well as named one of the top 25 restaurants in all of Vancouver.</p>
<h3>Anh and Chi</h3>
<p>With floor to ceiling windows looking out on Main Street, <strong>Anh and Chi</strong> is the place to come for people watching. It also happens to have some of the best authentic Vietnamese food in all of Vancouver. I’d recommend the spring rolls because I’m a traditionalist, but you could also go all out with the chef’s tasting menu.</p>
<h3>Chickpea</h3>
<p>Again with the plant based restaurants, because that’s kind of Vancouver’s thing (especially in Mount Pleasant…). Whether you’re a veggie person or not, <strong>Chickpea</strong> is to die for. Much of the menu is based on chickpea flour and Mediterranean staples. Try the falafel or at the very least their famous chickpea fries.</p>
<h3>For something sweet…</h3>
<p>And finally, you can please your sweet tooth in Mount Pleasant and SoMa! My two favorite spots for something sweet are on opposite sides of the neighborhood. For the donuts of your dreams, head north to <strong>Cartem’s Donuts</strong>. I’m talking everything from smoked maple walnut donuts to bacon topped donuts and more. On the south end of SoMa, you’ll want to visit <strong>Innocent Ice Cream</strong>. This place sells freshly handmade ice cream in every flavor. You can also get what is possibly Canada’s best ice cream sandwiches.</p>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">Where to Stay in Mount Pleasant, Vancouver</h2>
<p>Like I mentioned, I stayed in a family friend’s apartment in Mount Pleasant. You can definitely get the same experience from a variety of different accommodations in the area, from budget to <a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/luxury-guide-to-vancouver/">luxury</a>:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Airbnb</strong> – There are plenty of reasonably priced <a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/vancouver/mount-pleasant-airbnbs" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Airbnbs in Mount Pleasant.</a> Try to get one near Main Street, like this <a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/vancouver/mount-pleasant/apartment-with-parking" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">apartment with overnight parking</a> or this <a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/vancouver/mount-pleasant/townhouse" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">two-bedroom townhouse</a>.</li>
<li><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/mount-pleasant-vancouver-manor-guesthouse" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"><strong>Manor Guest House</strong></a> – A gorgeous restored manor and B&amp;B in Mount Pleasant.</li>
<li><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/mount-pleasant-vancouver-best-western-plus-uptown-hotel" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"><strong>Best Western Plus Uptown Hotel</strong></a> – Staying in a Best Western is a safe choice as they always provide great service. This one has a prime location in Mount Pleasant.</li>
</ul>
<p>As you can see, there is plenty to see and do in Mount Pleasant! I’m so happy that I spent my most recent trip to Vancouver stationed in this chilled out neighborhood, full of good shopping and even better food.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">A Luxury Guide to Toronto Financial District</h2>
<h3 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>Tell us a little about<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>yourself and tell us why you’re an expert on luxury travel in the Financial district of Toronto.</i></b></span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Born and raised in Toronto, Canada the city is full of an array of different offering for all travellers. Financial district, is in the heart of Toronto with a number of great restaurants, sports centers, shopping and of course, spas.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Working in finance for nearly 10 years, I have provided recommendations for clients, colleagues and travellers to cater to their preferences and time. Financial district, quiet on the weekend, is hustling and bustling during the week and easily accessible through the internal PATH system or outdoors.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14605" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_7220.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Toronto Financial District" width="560" height="560" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_7220-50x50.jpg 50w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_7220-120x120.jpg 120w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_7220-150x150.jpg 150w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_7220-300x300.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_7220.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14604" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6958.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Toronto Financial District" width="420" height="560" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6958-225x300.jpg 225w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6958-300x400.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6958.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px" /></p>
<h3 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>What makes </i></b></span><span class="s3"><b><i>the Financial district </i></b></span><span class="s1"><b><i>a perfect destination for travelers seeking a glamorous trip?</i></b></span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Being in the heart of downtown Toronto, there are a number of fabulous restaurants that will tantalize taste buds to each corner of the world. We have prided ourselves on our cultural diversity and our authentic array of cuisines that will inspire any visitor to keep on coming back. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Additionally, like all big cities, we have great wine bars, lounges, spas and shopping to solicit to any visitors taste. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14606" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_9676.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Toronto Financial District" width="560" height="374" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_9676-300x200.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_9676.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14603" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6132.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Toronto Financial District" width="560" height="560" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6132-50x50.jpg 50w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6132-120x120.jpg 120w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6132-150x150.jpg 150w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6132-300x300.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6132.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<h3 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>What 5 star hotel is the best in the Financial District?</i></b></span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The newly renovated <a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/toronto/four-seasons-hotel" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Four Seasons</strong></span></a> in Yorkville or the <a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/toronto/shangri-la-hotel" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Shangri-la</strong></span></a> in downtown Toronto for an exception 5 star hotel experience.</span></p>
<h3 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>What about boutique hotels in the Financial district, of them all, which would you send your friends or family to stay at?</i></b></span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Honestly, in Toronto you have some cute boutique hotels but truthfully, I would recommend friends or family to either stay at my place or to rent a guest suite in my building; a cheaper alternative than a hotel room. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/canada/toronto/hazelton-hotel" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>The Hazelton Hotel</strong></span></a> in Yorkville, is a swanky boutique hotel where it is known for housing celebrities like the Jolie-Pitts, J-Lo, J-Biebs, Blake Lively and Ben Affleck. Perfect time to celeb spot? Definitely during TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival).</span></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14601" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_5785.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Toronto Financial District" width="421" height="560" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_5785-226x300.jpg 226w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_5785-300x399.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_5785.jpg 421w" sizes="(max-width: 421px) 100vw, 421px" /></p>
<h3 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>Are there any fun activities for the adventurous traveler?</i></b></span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><a href="http://www.edgewalkcntower.ca/"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>CN Tower’s Edgewalk</strong></span></a>, which holds the title of the world’s highest full-circle, hands free walk on a 5 foot ledge that circles the main pod of the tower, 1,168 feet or 114 storeys above ground.</span></p>
<h3 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>Where are the best hang outs during the day?</i></b></span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Maman in First Canadian Place is a great place for a “non-corporate” café environment as it transports you to a sweet European café where you can order pressed coffee, loaves and even a cocktail should you feel like it </span><span class="s2"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/14.0.0/72x72/263a.png" alt="☺" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Take a walk around the downtown area and you will find spots that you will enjoy, the green spaces can be rare but when you find a patch take advantage of it.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14600" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0331.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Toronto Financial District" width="560" height="560" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0331-50x50.jpg 50w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0331-120x120.jpg 120w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0331-150x150.jpg 150w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0331-300x300.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0331.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<h3 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>If you have a big date night, what are the most delicious restaurants in the financial district and what are their best dishes?</i></b></span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Special occasions, I would recommend <a href="http://www.thechasetoronto.com/"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>The Chase</strong></span></a>. These are two of my favourite restaurants for special occasions. The Chase offers incredible food, and an extensive but pricey wine list. The menu switches up, but is never disappointing with a great little patio with a better view than post places. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Big date night? <a href="http://mercatto.ca/"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Mercatto</strong></span></a> on Toronto Street is a sweet spot with great Italian food and ambience. Feel like ramping it up a bit more? Check out George Restaurant which providing patrons with a great tasting menu. You don’t know what you’re doing to get but it is always exceptional!</span></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14599" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0119.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Toronto Financial District" width="560" height="420" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0119-300x225.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0119.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<h3 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>Let’s talk desserts- what place makes the best?</i></b></span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Oooh, that’s a tough call. If you feel like a creative twist on ice cream..there’s a great spot for it called <a href="http://www.sweetjesus4life.com/"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Sweet Jesus</strong></span></a>. They serve up killer lattes and churros!</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">If you’re looking for sophistication, and something more bougie take a quick walk to <a href="https://www.butteravenue.com/"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Butter Avenue</strong></span></a> and check out their gorgeously presented tarts, mini cakes, macarons and dessert options. </span></p>
<h3 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>Tell us all the hot shopping spots; who’s carrying the trendy local designers? Are there designers we should make sure to meet?</i></b></span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">You can never go wrong with shopping in downtown Toronto. Whether you’re looking for designer handbags, couture dresses or well-made pair of jeans. Eaton Centre should be able to satisfy most people, but if you want the Chanel, Givenchy, Tiffany’s, Gucci and Prada; Yorkville is where you need to be.</span></p>
<h3 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>What are a couple of the best salons and spas in the financial district?</i></b></span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><a href="http://www.elmwoodspa.com/"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Elmwood Spa</strong></span></a> is perfection in the city, one of my favourite “spoil me” spas where you are pampered from beginning to end.</span></p>
<h3 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>Time for a great sunset view… where would you go?</i></b></span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Rooftop of the <a href="http://www.thompsonhotels.com/hotels/thompson-toronto"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Thompson hotel</strong></span></a>!</span></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14602" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6075.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Toronto Financial District" width="560" height="560" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6075-50x50.jpg 50w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6075-120x120.jpg 120w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6075-150x150.jpg 150w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6075-300x300.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_6075.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-14598" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0087.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Toronto Financial District" width="560" height="560" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0087-50x50.jpg 50w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0087-120x120.jpg 120w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0087-150x150.jpg 150w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0087-300x300.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/IMG_0087.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<h3 class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>If you end the night at a fancy club, which one do you head towards? </i></b></span></h3>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">What tickles your fancy? Tequila lovers, go to Reposado which has a fantastic array of tequila that doesn’t make you feel like you are 19. Pravda is a well-known vodka bar that plays the Russian national anthem at midnight, then you get the samba group up on the bar and if you’re still standing, maybe you will get to do a vodka tasting in their chilly vodka room. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">New to Toronto, CC Lounge is a whiskey bar but turns into a club on the weekends. It’s more chilled out during the weekdays but if you are looking to party.. these would be some places near financial district.</span></p>

<h1 style="text-align: center;">A Luxury Guide to Tofino</h1>
<p class="p6"><span class="s1"><b><i>Tell us a little about<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>yourself and tell us why you’re an expert on luxury travel in Tofino.</i></b></span></p>

After five years of almost constant travelling, I ended up in Canada for more t</span><span class="s3">han a year</span><span class="s1">. One day I’ve been told by a fellow traveller there exists a magical place on </span></p>
<p class="p8"><span class="s1">Vancouver Island called Tofino. A place of surfers, artists and nature lovers. A place of rainforests, rocky beac</span><span class="s3">hes, orcas and eagles. <p class="p8"><span class="s1">Tofino is a charming coastal town on the west coast of Vancouver Island. It’s called “the end of the road” because it’s as far west as you can drive in Canada. No Starbucks, no golden arches, no Wal-Mart. It’s truly authentic and unique in world terms. Along pristine beaches there are many luxurious lodges and resorts built in </span><span class="s3">harmony with the nature</span><span class="s1">, some of them awarded as the best in the world. The culinary community is famous not only across Canada and while you may know it as Canada’s surfing paradise, Tofino offers far more than just great waves.</span></p>
<p class="p6"><span class="s1"><b><i>What 5 star hotel is the best in Tofino?</i></b></span></p>
<p class="p8"><span class="s1">If you’ve never heard about <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><span class="s8"><a href="http://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=4275&amp;awinaffid=254603&amp;clickref=&amp;p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.agoda.com%2Fwickaninnish-inn%2Fhotel%2Ftofino-bc-ca.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Wickaninnish Inn</a></span></strong></span>, now it’s the time. This beautiful resort is built on rocks where the strongest waves crash, where eagles fly and nest around. It’s built in harmony with nature, a lot of driftwood was used to carve unique furniture and decorations. Nothing will sing you to sleep more sweetly than the roar of the Pacific just outside your window.</span></p>

<p class="p6"><span class="s1"><b><i>What about boutique hotels in Tofino, of them all, which would you send your friends or family to stay at? </i></b></span></p>
<p class="p8"><span class="s1">There are many other unique affordable places to choose from and thanks to the geography they all are facing the Pacific ocean. Like <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="http://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=4275&amp;awinaffid=254603&amp;clickref=&amp;p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.agoda.com%2Fen-ca%2Fcox-bay-beach-resort%2Fhotel%2Ftofino-bc-ca.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cox Bay Beach Resort</a></strong></span> with wraparound floor-to-ceiling windows. <p class="p6"><span class="s1"><b><i>Are there any fun activities for the adventurous traveler in Tofino?</i></b></span></p>
<p class="p8"><span class="s1">If you are an adventurous soul, Tofino is a mecca for many different kinds of activities. Take a trip to Hot Springs Cove. There, geothermal pools are naturally heated up to 50°C (that’s hot!) and sit between rocky crevasses in Maquinna Marine Provincial Park. It’s a trip to get there (about an hour and a half boat ride alongside seals, otters and — if you’re lucky — whales and black bears, followed by a 1.2-kilometre stroll through the rainforest atop a floating boardwalk). Take the float plane back to soak it all in from above; it takes Tofino’s magical ruggedness to a whole other level.</span></p>
<p class="p8"><span class="s1">Walk some of beautiful and easy trails leading through lush rainforest to secret coves or hike a challenging steep trail up to Lone Cone to witness unforgettable view of snow covered mountains and small foresty islands. If you want to get wet, try surf or SUP lessons or go scuba-dive to see amazing marine life of this archipelago.</span></p>
<p class="p8"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13571" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Mark-hobson-painting-luxury-guide-to-tofino.jpg" alt="luxury guide to tofino" width="560" height="411" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Mark-hobson-painting-luxury-guide-to-tofino-300x220.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Mark-hobson-painting-luxury-guide-to-tofino.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p6"><span class="s1"><b><i>If you have a big date night, what are the most delicious restaurants in Tofino and what are their best dishes?</i></b></span></p>
<p class="p8"><span class="s1">The culinary community has always been good out there. There’s a lot of great restaurants. Place everybody buzzing about, multi-awarded <a href="http://www.wolfinthefog.com/"><span class="s8">Wolf in the Fog</span></a> in the heart of Tofino tempts guests to gather around a 14-foot communal table made of fir for more locally-inspired eats. Try seaweed salad or the Humboldt squid, caught 300 metres deep off the coast and charred and sliced like a flank steak. Or why not to try smoked oysters wrapped in potato and fried till crispy?</span></p>
<p class="p8"><span class="s1">Another place to mention is The Pointe Restaurant at the Wickaninnish Inn. It is truly a place for romantic fine dining. With amazing ocean view and cozy fireplace in the middle of the restaurant, people from all around the world are getting engaged there and also coming back years after to celebrate their anniversary. The menu is changing frequently and offers fresh local ingredients from the ocean and woods.</span></p>
<p class="p8"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13574" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Wolf-in-the-Fog-Restaurant-Christopher-Pouget-Photography-luxury-guide-to-tofino.jpg" alt="luxury guide to tofino" width="560" height="374" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Wolf-in-the-Fog-Restaurant-Christopher-Pouget-Photography-luxury-guide-to-tofino-300x200.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Wolf-in-the-Fog-Restaurant-Christopher-Pouget-Photography-luxury-guide-to-tofino.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p6"><span class="s1"><b><i>Let’s talk desserts- what place makes the best?</i></b></span></p>
<p class="p8"><span class="s1">Be sure not to miss Chocolate Tofino, an exquisite chocolate shop and gelateria that uses local ingredients such as foraged blackberries and Vancouver Island honey. Ask owners Kim and Cam Shaw about the secret menu, featuring special flavours such as salted caramel and what Cam describes as a “pretty un-kid friendly” rum raisin.</span></p>
<p class="p6"><span class="s1"><b><i>Tell us all the hot shopping spots; who’s carrying the trendy local designers in Tofino?</i></b></span></p>
<p class="p8"><span class="s1">The art in Tofino is just as beautiful, and meaningful, as the nature. Spend any time in a local restaurant, coffee shop or resort and you will see the art. The paintings, carvings, sculptures, statues, jewelry and prints represent the spectacular, diverse land, people and region in vibrant colour, beautiful woods and coarse, often raw materials and glass. Many galleries represent (and sell) native, contemporary, abstract art and everything in between. If you would have to visit just one gallery, go to Mark Hobson Gallery, where you can see Mark’s incredible paintings showing the nature of the area.</span></p>
<p class="p6"><span class="s1"><b><i>What are a couple of the best salons and spas in Tofino?</i></b></span></p>
<p class="p8"><span class="s1">The Ancient Cedars Spa by the Wickaninnish Inn is balm to your soul. Already arriving to beautiful setting between wild Pacific Ocean and old-growth forest. Their nature inspired treatments, like the 90 minute hot stone massage in the beach cabin will send you to heaven. You can enjoy various treatments together with yoga lessons, eucalyptus steam cave or just chilling out on beach patio right in the spa.</span></p>
<p class="p8"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13559" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Ancient-Cedars-Spa-luxury-guide-to-tofino.jpg" alt="luxury guide to tofino" width="560" height="336" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Ancient-Cedars-Spa-luxury-guide-to-tofino-300x180.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Ancient-Cedars-Spa-luxury-guide-to-tofino.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p6"><span class="s1"><b><i>Time for a great sunset view in Tofino… where would you go?</i></b></span></p>
<p class="p8"><span class="s1">Tofino is the right place for romantic souls. Once the sun goes down head to some of beaches on the west side of Tofino peninsula. North Chesterman Beach with an island far in the background and dreamatic rock formations is unbelievable place to watch colourful sunsets (and surfers). If you are lucky you can even spot whales, orcas and eagles! In the town head down to Tonquin Beach and while waiting for sunset, explore this beautiful cove and its mysterious caves.</span></p>
<p class="p8"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13566" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/luxury-guide-to-tofino2.jpg" alt="luxury guide to tofino" width="560" height="374" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/luxury-guide-to-tofino2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/luxury-guide-to-tofino2.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p6"><span class="s1"><b><i>Now that the sun’s gone down, fill us on the best places to go for some evening drinks or a great pre-gaming spot. </i></b></span></p>
<p class="p8"><span class="s1">Do you like live music? Lots of many Canadian as well as international musician coming to Tofino to perform. There are amazing live concerts in Jamie’s Inn every week or twice, so why not to sip your drinks while guitars gently weep?</span></p>
<p class="p2"><span class="s1"><img decoding="async" class="alignleft wp-image-13568" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/luxury-guide-to-tofino3.jpg" alt="luxury guide to tofino" width="150" height="100" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/luxury-guide-to-tofino3-300x200.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/luxury-guide-to-tofino3.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px" />Martina Gebarovska is an adventurous traveller and photographer originally from Czech Republic and creator of travel blog <a href="http://www.dreamingandwandering.com"><span class="s2">Dreaming and Wandering</span></a>. Every Sunday, this spot will feature a new travel blogger. Some weeks it will be a really fun <strong>interview about packing, fashion, and fitness</strong> so you can snoop inside their bags &amp; lives a little bit and other weeks it&#8217;ll be a <strong>detailed</strong> <strong>luxury guide</strong> to a city the featured blogger/expat knows very well. <em>E-mail me if you&#8217;d like to be featured.</em></p>
<h1 style="text-align: center;">A Luxury Guide to Vancouver</h1>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>Tell us a little about<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>yourself and tell us why you’re an expert on luxury travel in Vancouver.</i></b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">I’m Emily and I’m a Canadian student currently in Ontario. Before I started school I took a year off to travel and in between trips I spent a lot of time working in Vancouver. Of course in a beautiful place like Vancouver my curiosity went wild and I spent every minute I wasn’t working exploring the city. Now I’ve pretty much got the best spots figured out and I’m excited to share them!</span></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13343" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/10455854_10152499709354222_1368117942933662009_n.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Vancouver" width="425" height="560" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/10455854_10152499709354222_1368117942933662009_n-228x300.jpg 228w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/10455854_10152499709354222_1368117942933662009_n-300x395.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/10455854_10152499709354222_1368117942933662009_n.jpg 425w" sizes="(max-width: 425px) 100vw, 425px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>What makes Vancouver</i></b></span><span class="s1"><b><i> a perfect destination for travelers seeking a glamorous trip?</i></b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Vancouver is the ultimate glamour destination in Canada, hands down. They don’t call it west coast best coast for nothing! The city has everything you could ever want in a big city, with a breath-taking mountain backdrop, and the ocean always only a few steps away.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>What 5 star hotel is the best in Vancouver?</i></b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><a href="http://www.anrdoezrs.net/links/7623084/type/dlg/https://www.hotelscombined.com/Hotel/Pan_Pacific_Vancouver.htm">The Pan Pacific Vancouver</a> is the perfect luxury hotel to be spoiled at. It’s located right downtown, at the harbor front, steps away from luxury shopping. Every room provides the most breath-taking , mountain views. There’s also an outdoor heated pool on the roof that is an absolute dream!</span></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13340" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/1689775_10152198328704222_807067880_n.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Vancouver" width="560" height="560" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/1689775_10152198328704222_807067880_n-50x50.jpg 50w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/1689775_10152198328704222_807067880_n-120x120.jpg 120w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/1689775_10152198328704222_807067880_n-150x150.jpg 150w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/1689775_10152198328704222_807067880_n-300x300.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/1689775_10152198328704222_807067880_n.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>What about boutique hotels in <b><i>Vancouver</i></b>, of them all, which would you send your friends or family to stay at?</i></b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The OPUS hotel in Yaletown is the cutest hotel I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Yaletown is an excellent area to be located in, with tons of shopping nearby and great proximity to the water front. The OPUS hotel also provides iPad’s in their guest rooms for use on and off property! </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>Are there any fun activities for the adventurous traveler in <b><i>Vancouver?</i></b></i></b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Vancouver has got to be the prime spot for adventure travelers; there’s an endless array of options here. One of the top spots for heart racing adventure is the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Here you can walk across the 450 foot <a href="http://www.seehertravel.com/visit-capilano-suspension-bridge-vancouver-attraction/">Capilano suspension bridge</a> over the Capilano River, or if you really want to get your heart pumping, stand on a glass platform on the edge of a glacier. Speaking of glaciers, another absolutely amazing thing to do is take a helicopter ride through the mountain ranges. There are also dozens of whale watching tours that depart between April and October for those who want to catch a glimpse of Vancouver’s incredible wildlife. </span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>Where are the best hang outs during the day in <b><i>Vancouver?</i></b></i></b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">If you’re feeling outdoorsy, definitely head to Stanley Park! The over 1000 acre park is the perfect for a scenic stroll and a picnic. An alternative hangout option is Buzz Café in Yaletown. The café has unique lattes such as the Lavender Latte, and there’s an art gallery on the upper level.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13341" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/10368393_10152499711094222_4286407716275392874_n.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Vancouver" width="560" height="414" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/10368393_10152499711094222_4286407716275392874_n-300x222.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/10368393_10152499711094222_4286407716275392874_n.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>If you have a big date night, what are the most delicious restaurants in<b><i>Vancouver</i></b> and what are their best dishes?</i></b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Blue Water Café &amp; Raw Bar is by far the top restaurant in Vancouver. They are well known for their sustainable and tasty seafood. Be sure to make a reservation early, as the waits for walk ins can be rather long, however if you don’t mind sitting at the bar instead, I’ve never encountered kinder bartenders. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Another restaurant I absolutely have to mention is the Wildflower diner. They cater to vegans and vegetarians and make the most amazing vegan poutine!</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>Let’s talk desserts- what place makes the best?<br />
</i></b>I personally love Edible Flours. They’re a vegan bakery making incredible cupcakes, loaves, donuts, and cookies. For non-vegans, I’d recommend Rhino Coffee House. Technically this is a little bit outside Vancouver, in Tofino, however it’s well worth the trip. This donut shop makes up the crazy donuts you can think of from maple bacon donuts to peanut butter and jelly donuts.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13342" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/10427275_10152499709509222_3534320300526233002_n.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Vancouver" width="560" height="420" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/10427275_10152499709509222_3534320300526233002_n-300x225.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/10427275_10152499709509222_3534320300526233002_n.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>Tell us all the hot shopping spots; who’s carrying the trendy local designers in <b><i>Vancouver?</i></b><br />
</i></b>If you’re looking to shop until you drop Robson Street is the place to be. There’s over 100 shops ranging from outlet stores to high end designers, boutique stores to department stores, and the Pacific Mall can also be found here. High end brands such as Ferragamo, Tiffany’s , and Gucci can be found scattered through this area.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>What are a couple of the best salons and spas in <b><i>Vancouver?</i></b></i></b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">If you’re looking to get a haircut or colour I’d definitely recommended Axis hair salon. I don’t know how they do it, but they work magic when it comes to colouring hair. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">If you want a truly unique and memorable spa experience, go to Miraj Hammam. They offer a range of Middle Eastern treatments including the signitaure cleansing and purification ritual of the Hammam bath. The hammam is a centuries-old Turkish bath experience to revel in. It’s recorded that there were more than 4,000 private and public baths in Istanbul in the 16th century. During the Hammam at this spa in Vancouver you’ll get to lie on gold marble from Jerusalem in a room filled with eucalyptus steam while you’re exfoliated and purified. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13345" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/photo-2.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Vancouver" width="422" height="560" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/photo-2-226x300.jpg 226w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/photo-2-300x398.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/photo-2.jpg 422w" sizes="(max-width: 422px) 100vw, 422px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>Time for a great sunset view… where would you go?</i></b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">English Bay Beach is one of the most stunning places in Vancouver to watch the sunset. However, if you want an untraditional sunset view, head up to the peak of Vancouver; Grouse Mountain.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>Now that the sun’s gone down, fill us on the best places to go for some evening drinks or a great pre-gaming spot. </i></b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Guilt &amp; Co is a great place for pre-gaming. The lounge gives off a really laid back feel, but the life size Jenga and live music keep everyone buzzed! It’s definitely unlike any other lounge in the area and the perfect spot to hit up with some friends.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13346" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/photo-4.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Vancouver" width="560" height="418" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/photo-4-300x224.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/photo-4.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b><i>If you end the night at a fancy club in <b><i>Vancouver</i></b>, which one do you head towards? </i></b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Roxy is definitely the go to place in Vancouver. This nightclub plays a variety of live music 365 days a year, from country to hip hop, there’s something different every night so you’ll definitely find something you like. Another spot I think everyone should check out at least once is Celebrities night club. This nightclub is a cutting edge dance club that caters to the LGBT community. They do have straight nights, however any night is as fun as any here. You can dress up and be as wild as you like. They’re known for playing unreal tunes by international DJ’s and have a different drink special every night. I’d highly recommend making sure you’re on the guest list for this club as the wait can be very long.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><img decoding="async" class="alignleft wp-image-13340 size-thumbnail" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/1689775_10152198328704222_807067880_n-150x150.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Vancouver" width="150" height="150" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/1689775_10152198328704222_807067880_n-50x50.jpg 50w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/1689775_10152198328704222_807067880_n-120x120.jpg 120w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/1689775_10152198328704222_807067880_n-150x150.jpg 150w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/1689775_10152198328704222_807067880_n-300x300.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/1689775_10152198328704222_807067880_n.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px" />Emily is a Canadian girl on a quest to explore the earth while trying to save it at the same time. <h1 style="text-align: center;">A Luxury Guide to Whistler</h1>
<p class="p1"><b><i>Tell us a little about<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>yourself and tell us why you’re an expert on luxury travel in Whistler.</i></b></p>
<p class="p1">Hi I&#8217;m Aimee and I&#8217;ve been living abroad for the past five years – firstly In San Franciso, then in Sydney and finally in Whistler. But, I&#8217;m an Irish girl true and true having been raised in the beautiful Emerald Isle. I love to travel and this past year I undertook the impressive feat of travelling to 16 countries in a year. It was and still is the best thing I&#8217;ve ever done. Anyway, enough about me, let&#8217;s move on to the scenic town of Whistler nestled in the mountains of British Columbia. I have lived here since May of this year and honestly it&#8217;s the prettiest place I&#8217;ve ever called home. There are hundreds of reasons why you should make Whistler your next luxury travel destination.</p>
<p class="p1"><b><i>What makes Whistler a perfect destination for travelers seeking a glamorous trip?</i></b></p>
<p class="p1">Whistler is picture-perfect, it&#8217;s one of those places that has you saying &#8216;wow&#8217; every 10 steps. It&#8217;s renowned the world over for its skiing, but for me there&#8217;s so much more to Whistler. From luxury hotels back-dropped by snow-capped mountains to some of the best restaurants in the world – <a href="https://thefittraveller.com/explore/canada-year-round-travel-guide-whistler/">Whistler</a> has everything you could ask for of a luxury travel destination.</p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13095" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC02976.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Whistler" width="560" height="420" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC02976-300x225.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC02976.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13098" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC03097.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Whistler" width="560" height="420" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC03097-300x225.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC03097.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><b><i>What 5 star hotel is the best in Whistler?</i></b></p>
<p class="p1">The <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="http://www.anrdoezrs.net/links/7623084/type/dlg/http://www.hotelscombined.com/Hotel/Four_Seasons_Resort_Whistler.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Four Seasons</a></strong></span> located in Whistler&#8217;s upper village provides an epic panorama of Blackcomb Mountain. Inside the hotel massive open fireplaces welcome you with open arms and the rooms although luxurious provide a home away from home experience.</p>
<p class="p1"><b><i>What about boutique hotels in Whistler, of them all, which would you send your friends or family to stay at?</i></b></p>
<p class="p1"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><b><a href="http://www.anrdoezrs.net/links/7623084/type/dlg/http://www.hotelscombined.com/Hotel/Nita_Lake_Lodge.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nita Lake Lodge</a></b></span><b> </b>is considered one of the best hotels in the Whistler area. Built on the serene Nita Lake and a 5 minute drive from Whistler village – Nita Lake provides the tranquil and luxurious experience that most tourists to Whistler are looking for.</p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13099" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/IMG_20151204_211046.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Whistler" width="560" height="420" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/IMG_20151204_211046-300x225.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/IMG_20151204_211046.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><b><i>Are there any fun activities for the adventurous traveler in Whistler?</i></b></p>
<p class="p1">Lots. Whistler has everythng from dog-sledding the nearby Callaghan Valley, a wine tasting tour of Whistler village and surrounding areas and heli skiing over Whistler Blackcomb Mountain. All once-in-a-lifetime experiences, I promise you won&#8217;t be disappointed.</p>
<p class="p1"><b><i>Where are the best hang outs during the day in Whistler?</i></b></p>
<p class="p1">In the summer a walk to Lost Lake is a must-see.<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>A beautiful nature trail that offers a true Pacific Northwest nature experience. Sit on the banks of the lake and take in the magnificent views or if you&#8217;re feeling brave take a swim in its refreshing waters. The best cafe in my opinion is Camp Coffee &amp; Lifestyle Co. in Function Junction – fantastic coffee in a modern lifestyle store.</p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13101" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/received_1094866033857330.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Whistler" width="560" height="374" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/received_1094866033857330-300x200.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/received_1094866033857330.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><b><i>If you have a big date night, what are the most delicious restaurants in Whistler and what are their best dishes?</i></b></p>
<p class="p1">My number one choice is <a href="http://www.rimrockcafe.com/">Rimrock Cafe</a> near Creekside Village. It is continually ranked as the top restaurant in Whistler, it provides both a unique dining experience and the best fish dishes&#8217; in all of British Columbia, in my opinion. A close second is Araxi in Whistler village which has some very innovative dishes including</p>
<p class="p1">Quebec Rabbit dish (which is my personal favourite) . Also, worth a mention is Bearfoot Bistro with its famed wine cellar – it has one of the most extensive wine cellars in all of Canada. Their butter poached Atlantic Salmon is amzing.</p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13097" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC03093.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Whistler" width="560" height="420" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC03093-300x225.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC03093.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><b><i>Let’s talk desserts in Whistler- what place makes the best?</i></b></p>
<p class="p1">Purebread is famous in Whistler. You won&#8217;t miss it, as there is usually a long winding queue out this small Cafe&#8217;s door. Their tantalising display of sweets has everything from Sticky Toffee Pudding to Raspberry Cheesecake Brownie. Pure mouth-watering bliss.</p>
<p class="p1"><b><i>What are a couple of the best salons and spas in Whistler?</i></b></p>
<p class="p1">Scandinave Spa allows you to relax in the heart of nature. A nordic-inspired 20,000 square foot outdoor spa surrounded by cedar trees. Soak in the outdoor hot tub and experience the beautiful vista of Whistlers natural beauty.</p>
<p class="p1"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-13096" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC03015.jpg" alt="Luxury Guide to Whistler" width="560" height="420" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC03015-300x225.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DSC03015.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p class="p1"><b><i>Time for a great sunset view in Whistler… where would you go?</i></b></p>
<p class="p1">Lost Lake, in particular the huge pier along the right-side of the lake is an amazing setting to catch the sunset over Whistler Mountain.</p>
<p class="p1"><b><i>Now that the sun’s gone down, fill us on the best places to go for some evening drinks or a great pre-gaming spot. </i></b></p>

It&#8217;s easy to make a stop and only takes an hour if you need to make it quick. We did, as we had to pick our dog up from the kennel (poor Brandi!).</p>
<p>If you want to stop at Niagara Falls on your way home from Toronto to Ohio, it&#8217;s easy to do just before crossing Rainbow Bridge. From Toronto you get on Queen Elizabeth way to 420E which takes you right to the falls. There are signs everywhere saying to get off at the falls, just follow the arrows. Then after seeing the falls, you can follow signs to &#8220;USA&#8221; or &#8220;Rainbow bridge&#8221; easy peasy!</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11030" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150717_090011_HDR-01.jpg" alt="how to stop at niagara falls from toronto to ohio" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150717_090011_HDR-01-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150717_090011_HDR-01.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11031" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150717_090041_HDR-01.jpg" alt="how to stop at niagara falls from toronto to ohio" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150717_090041_HDR-01-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150717_090041_HDR-01.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p>Parking at Niagara is easy as well and there were places all over. You can take a boat ride out or you can just take pictures from the sidewalk. There are places to eat and it&#8217;s actually a cute little town withe Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe, and Hershey store.</p>
<p>Niagara falls was amazing and totally worth a stop! You&#8217;d be crazy not to. In case you&#8217;re unfamiliar with the falls, they are 3 waterfalls between NY (USA) and Ontario (Canada) called Horseshoe, American, and Bridal Veil Falls. The Horseshoe falls are the most famous. They are not only a tourist attraction, but they create power!</p>

<p>In 1901 a school teacher went over in a barrel. She lived to tell the tale and the daredevil trend has stuck around with more people wanting to try. If you have time to share check out more stories of <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niagara_Falls#Jumps_and_plunges" target="_blank" rel="noopener">people who jumped into the falls</a></span>.</p>

<p>The #1 hotel in Toronto across pretty much all platforms is easily the Four Seasons. I&#8217;d never stayed in one and we thought for this big city vacay, it&#8217;s go big or go home so we booked it for our final night! Click <a href="http://www.anrdoezrs.net/links/7623084/type/dlg/https://www.hotelscombined.com/Hotel/Four_Seasons_Toronto_at_Yorkville.htm">here</a> for rates and availability. </p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11010" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Four-Seasons-Toronto4.jpg" alt="four seasons toronto review" width="560" height="400" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Four-Seasons-Toronto4-300x214.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Four-Seasons-Toronto4.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em>I FINALLY get to take a photo of my first macaroon &amp; my nails aren&#8217;t painted, figures! </em></p>
<p>Originally we stayed down by Union Station, but Four Seasons is over on the other side by the ROM (top museum) in the York area. Of course, it&#8217;s a very nice fancy hotel and there were Lamborghini&#8217;s parked out in the valet. My mom was like what do I wear&#8230; and I&#8217;m like mom if we want to look rich, we can wear anything we want, I mean remember that year Britney wore trucker hats and no shoes?</p>
<p>The lobby of the hotel was amazing in light grey, pink, and blue with loads of flowers all over the place. It&#8217;s the prettiest lobby I&#8217;ve ever seen actually.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11012" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_114918_HDR.jpg" alt="four seasons toronto review" width="560" height="365" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_114918_HDR-300x196.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_114918_HDR.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>

<h3>Four Seasons Toronto Review</h3>
<p>Like the lobby, it was modern and sleek in simple light colors, mostly grey. We got a room with two beds since there were 3 of us and it had great views over the city from every direction, even over the bathtub.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11007" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Four-Seasons-Toronto1.jpg" alt="four seasons toronto review" width="560" height="433" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Four-Seasons-Toronto1-300x232.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Four-Seasons-Toronto1.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11013" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115638_HDR.jpg" alt="four seasons toronto review" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115638_HDR-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115638_HDR.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" />Not only was there a TV over the beds, but the mirror in the bathroom turned into a TV so you could watch it from the bathtub! Fancy! Before checking in they ask if you want soft or hard beds, red or white wine, high or low room, etc.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11014" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115650_HDR-01.jpg" alt="four seasons toronto review" width="560" height="439" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115650_HDR-01-300x235.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115650_HDR-01.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>

<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11017" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115742_HDR.jpg" alt="four seasons toronto review" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115742_HDR-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115742_HDR.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" />Rooms had amazing bedding, iPads, complimentary Wi-Fi for 2 devices or 19.99 for 4 devices. The best part about the Four Seasons is the turn down service. When you come back from your evening out, they&#8217;ve pulled the curtain, put out slippers by the bed, dimmed the lights, put out new towels, and had the room all ready for bed.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11018" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115906_HDR-01.jpg" alt="four seasons toronto review" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115906_HDR-01-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115906_HDR-01.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11019" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115930_HDR.jpg" alt="four seasons toronto review" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115930_HDR-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_115930_HDR.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11009" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Four-Seasons-Toronto3.jpg" alt="four seasons toronto review" width="560" height="350" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Four-Seasons-Toronto3-300x188.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Four-Seasons-Toronto3.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" />We weren&#8217;t there long enough to talk with the concierge, but because of the area we went to the ROM for the afternoon then took a cab down to the distillery district since it was our last night and we still hadn&#8217;t been. Yorkville Road on the way to the ROM had really cute (but expensive) shops.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em>(See Also: <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/family-vacation-in-toronto-things-to-do" target="_blank" rel="noopener">20 Things to do in Toronto on a Family Vacation</a>)</span></em></p>
<p>The only confusing part about the Four Seasons was breakfast the morning we checked out. We left early to drive back to Ohio and just wanted coffee to go. The downstairs lobby/bar was were we were told to order complimentary breakfast but since we got to-go coffee&#8217;s instead of eating in it was $2.25 per coffee. I couldn&#8217;t show you the breakfast as it was to-order not just sitting out, except for some pay to takeaway snacks.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11024" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150717_065641_HDR.jpg" alt="four seasons toronto review" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150717_065641_HDR-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150717_065641_HDR.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" />Valet was $48 which seems high, but it&#8217;s not. It&#8217;s like that all over the city and you can take your car out as many times as you want per day.</p>
<p>There was a spa, indoor pool, and a big lovely balcony with sun chairs outside the pool room. You have to walk through the spa to get to the pool. For an indoor pool, it was really nice. I think Toronto doesn&#8217;t have many outdoor pools because it gets so cold, because I didn&#8217;t see any hotel with rooftop pools.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-11020" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_172445_HDR-01.jpg" alt="four seasons toronto review" width="560" height="996" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_172445_HDR-01-169x300.jpg 169w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_172445_HDR-01-300x533.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_172445_HDR-01.jpg 450w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11021" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_172455_HDR.jpg" alt="four seasons toronto review" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_172455_HDR-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_172455_HDR.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11022" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_172532_HDR.jpg" alt="four seasons toronto review" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_172532_HDR-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_172532_HDR.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /> Overall, it&#8217;s one of the nicest hotels I&#8217;ve been to and I can see why it&#8217;s ranked #1 in Toronto. My parents and I had a blast and it was really fun staying in such a swanky place!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><em>Many thanks for the Four Seasons for inviting us to stay in return for a review, all opinions are my own.</em></p>

My family went to Gulf Shores Alabama as a kid and then when we got older started going to Myrtle Beach. While I was home from India this year, I told my parents we should try something different, a new idea for vacation within driving distance from Ohio &#8211; Canada! <strong>Toronto, in fact. It was only 6.5 hours from my house in Lexington, Ohio. </strong></p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">&#8211; A family vacation in Toronto &#8211;</h3>
<p>I think the reasons mid-western families go south are that 1) it&#8217;s familiar 2) it&#8217;s hot 3) we miss the ocean. Plus, if you haven&#8217;t been to Chicago or NYC, you might think going to Montreal or Toronto sounds scary or like it&#8217;d get too confusing trying to get around. Toronto is the 4th largest city in North America, but honestly you can&#8217;t tell because it&#8217;s so spread out. In case you&#8217;re curious the top 3 in population are Mexico City, NYC, and LA.</p>
<p>We went for 3 days and 3 nights and had a blast. There is so much to do in the city and there&#8217;s even a beach for SUP and boating/fishing on Lake Ontario. That&#8217;s a good way to talk your dad into going!</p>
<p>Going to Toronto is great because it&#8217;s an international trip and you get to see lots of cultures all in one place. Stats say that 50% of people in Toronto are born outside Canada, with over 130 languages spoken in Toronto. There is a Little Italy, Little Portugal, China Town, Little India and more plus international markets and huge museums with artifacts from all over the world to explore.<img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11045" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/20-Things-to-Do-in-Toronto5.jpg" alt="20 Things to Do in Toronto5" width="560" height="433" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/20-Things-to-Do-in-Toronto5-300x232.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/20-Things-to-Do-in-Toronto5.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">Things to do on a family vacation in Toronto</h3>
<p>(Prices on everything will be in Canadian dollars as the exchange rate is always changing.)</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>1. The ROM</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11049" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_124545.jpg" alt="A family vacation in Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_124545-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/IMG_20150716_124545.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The Royal Ontario Museum was a very cool place to stop by. We only stayed two hours because it was such a gorgeous sunny day to be outside. It&#8217;s open 10 am to 5:30 pm and later on weekends. Absolutely worth a visit with artifacts from all over the world. For the <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.rom.on.ca/en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">special exhibitions</a></span> you do have to pay extra than the general admission ticket.</p>
<p><em>Price: Tickets for adults at $17 and $14 for children, although they have discounts on Fridays. </em></p>
<p><em>Getting there: 100 Queens Park. It&#8217;s on the intersection of Avenue and Bloor, easily walkable if you&#8217;re staying on that side, or you can take the metro to the museum stop.</em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>2. CN Tower</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11042" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/20-Things-to-Do-in-Toronto2.jpg" alt="A family vacation in Toronto" width="560" height="400" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/20-Things-to-Do-in-Toronto2-300x214.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/20-Things-to-Do-in-Toronto2.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p>The <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.cntower.ca/en-ca/plan-your-visit/rates/rates.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CN Tower</a></span> is the 2nd tallest building in the world at 447 meters high and shows great views from the city. We went at night and it was pretty cool. You can eat up there but we just had a look and went back down.</p>
<p><em>Price: $35 for adults, $25 for children for general admission</em></p>
<p><em>Getting there: 301 Front St W. Most likely you can walk here from your hotel.</em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>3. St. Lawrence Market</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11060" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto11.jpg" alt="A family vacation in Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto11-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto11.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p>The <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.stlawrencemarket.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">St. Lawrence market</a></span> was ranked by Nat Geo as the best in the world. I did expect it to be a bit bigger! It was really cool, easy to see it all, and partially indoors. The thing to try is the peameal sandwich which is a Canadian specialty (get the honey mustard on it). I&#8217;ll tell you which places we tried later in the article.</p>
<p><em>Price: free to enter</em></p>
<p><em>Getting there: 92-95 Front Street East. Take the metro to Union or King Station on the University line and you can walk from there.</em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>4. Evergreen Brick Works</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11064" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto15.jpg" alt="A family vacation in Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto15-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto15.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11063" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto14.jpg" alt="A family vacation in Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto14-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto14.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11046" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/20-Things-to-Do-in-Toronto6.jpg" alt="A family vacation in Toronto" width="560" height="433" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/20-Things-to-Do-in-Toronto6-300x232.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/20-Things-to-Do-in-Toronto6.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p>See where Toronto was built, literally. The bricks for most of the major buildings came from here. You can have lunch, rent a bike, take a hike and bring your dog along. It&#8217;s also called <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.evergreen.ca/get-involved/evergreen-brick-works/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Don Valley Brick Works</a></span> or Weston Quarry. A local told us this is her favorite place in the city.</p>
<p><em>Price: free to enter</em></p>
<p><em>Getting there: 550 Bayview Ave. Take the green metro line out to Broadview then walk to your left to a bus stop where a neon shuttle will pick you up for free and take you, every 30 minutes. </em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>5. Eat International food</strong></p>
<p>We tried all kinds of restaurants! You can get EVERY nationality of food here. I&#8217;ll share just some of the places we tried.</p>
<p>Chinese at <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://luckeerestaurant.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Luckee Restaurant</a></span> (328 Wellington St). This was our big dinner out as it&#8217;s a little bit pricey. There were 3 of us so we ate quite a lot! We tried their famous starters: chicken Cheung fun, steamed spinach, Chinese celery dumplings, and Taro &amp; turnip cake. For mains we had the bakes soy cod with green beans, the very famous duck with Chinese pancakes, and the beef tenderloin. The beef was so tender and the duck was delicious. I know Ben was really bummed to miss this meal! We don&#8217;t usually eat &#8220;real&#8221; Chinese food so most of the dishes were totally new to us. We liked it all, although the textures took some getting used to. For dessert we tried the passionfruit &amp; pineapple coconut pudding and rice donut. We loved the pudding. The chef here, Chef Lee, is a judge on chopped and very famous.<img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11040" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/20-Things-to-Do-in-Toronto.jpg" alt="A family vacation in Toronto" width="560" height="400" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/20-Things-to-Do-in-Toronto-300x214.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/20-Things-to-Do-in-Toronto.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>

It&#8217;s real Italian style, and tasty but nothing to go nuts over.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">This was my favorite part of Toronto! <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.thedistillerydistrict.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Distillery District</a></span> is a brick lane with old buildings full of vintage treasure and boutique shops. We loved SOMA chocolate and Mill St. Brewery and all the shops were very cool and trendy although expensive.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;"><em>Getting there: Mill St. We took a taxi here but you could walk from the Union Station stop, although it&#8217;s quite far, maybe 35 minutes. You would pass St. Lawrence market on the way.</em></p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>13. See a Show</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">We considered seeing Kinky Boots but it online only found tickets at $350 per person so we didn&#8217;t go. They have 4 theaters playing shows and options were Motown, Newsies, Phantom of the Opera and more. It&#8217;s a big &#8220;thing to do&#8221; in Toronto, but I guess we should have planned ahead more.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><em>Price: in my experience, it was quite expensive</em></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><em>Getting there: There are four theatres so you&#8217;d have to buy tickets, then look up the theatre on maps.</em></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11073" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto24.jpg" alt="A family vacation in Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto24-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto24.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11071" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto22.jpg" alt="A family vacation in Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto22-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto22.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>14. Sports!</strong></p>
<p>There wasn&#8217;t anything going on while we were there, but our hotel was right outside the Air Canada Center where the Toronto Maple Leafs play hockey. You could also catch a Blue Jays baseball game at Rogers Centre (which also has concerts).</p>
<p><em>Price: I&#8217;m not sure the best place to book sports in Toronto</em></p>
<p><em>Getting there: Air Canada Center is just of the Union station metro stop, you can&#8217;t miss it and the Rogers Centre is on 1 Blue Jays Way.</em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>15. Hockey Hall of Fame</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">If you&#8217;re really into hockey, this is worth a mention although we aren&#8217;t huge Hockey people and didn&#8217;t go to the <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://www.hhof.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hockey Hall of Fame</a></span> on this trip.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><i>Price: according to the website it&#8217;s $18 for adults and $12 for children</i></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><em>Getting there: 30 Yonge St. We passed this on our way walking to St. Lawrence market. You can walk from downtown or take the metro to Union or King and walk from there.</em></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11050" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto.jpg" alt="A family vacation in Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11059" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto10.jpg" alt="A family vacation in Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto10-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto10.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>For the kids: 16, 17, &amp; 18. Casa Loma, Science Center, and Zoo</strong></p>
<p>I&#8217;ve put these together because we didn&#8217;t go for a variety of reasons, although they are famous attractions in Toronto. Casa Loma is a mansion you can tour, the Science Center we were advised was best for children, and I&#8217;m not crazy about Zoos. You can find more information about all of these on the <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.seetorontonow.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Toronto Tourism website</a></span>. Just because I didn&#8217;t go doesn&#8217;t mean they aren&#8217;t great options, especially for kids!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>19. Take a Street Car</strong></p>
<p>The 501 street car &#8220;red rocket&#8221; is a famous way of getting around the city. It goes along Dundas Road. We took this to get out to Ossington. You can ask your hotel for a metro map or print one online and you&#8217;ll see the getting around is very easy and you can walk almost everywhere if you&#8217;re not into taking street cars or metros.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-11061" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto12.jpg" alt="A family vacation in Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto12-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/things-to-do-in-toronto12.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>20. Stay Downtown</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">There are SO many hotel options downtown, even a Holiday Inn, that you can surely find something in your budget. Driving to Toronto from Ohio was easy and the Highways are really organized with a HOV lane for 3+ people. Even with the Pan Am games we didn&#8217;t get into any bad traffic. Parking is expensive so it&#8217;s best to leave your car rather than take it out and pay over and over, or valet so you can have multiple take outs with no extra charge. We stayed at both the <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/best-family-hotel-in-downtown-toronto" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Le Germain Maple Leaf Square</a></span> and the <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/four-seasons-toronto-review" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Four Seasons</a></span>; you can read reviews on those links.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>BONUS!!!</strong></p>
<p>If you&#8217;re coming from the US back to Ohio, you can stop at Niagara Falls on your way home. <span style="text-decoration: underline;">I&#8217;ve written an article to explain <strong><a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/stop-niagara-falls-toronto-ohio" target="_blank" rel="noopener">how to get to Niagara Falls</a></strong>.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><i>This is a collaboration with the Toronto Tourism board. I was provided passes by the tourism board for the ROM, CN tower, and some transport. I was also invited to eat by Luckee. All opinions are my own.</i></p>

Like a lot of people, I first just look up the top 10 hotels on Tripadvisor then I search reviews on blogs of the hotels. In Toronto there were a few huge chains I&#8217;d heard of, and then at #4 was one called <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Le Germain Maple Leaf Square</span>. I didn&#8217;t know the brand but it sounded French which was enough for me to look into it. Click <a href="http://www.anrdoezrs.net/links/7623084/type/dlg/https://www.hotelscombined.com/Hotel/Hotel_Le_Germain_Maple_Leaf_Square.htm">here</a> for rates and availability. </p>
<h3>Best Family Hotel in Downtown Toronto</h3>
<blockquote>
<p>&#8220;Choose Le Germain Hotel Maple Leaf Square for its elegance, comfort and quality. Every detail, down to the very last one, is important. We want you to enjoy all the comforts of home. And more.&#8221; &#8211; from their website</p>
</blockquote>

<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-10986 size-full" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Le-Germain-Maple-Leaf-Square-Toronto.jpg" alt="best hotel for family vacation in toronto" width="560" height="433" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Le-Germain-Maple-Leaf-Square-Toronto-300x232.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Le-Germain-Maple-Leaf-Square-Toronto.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p>I wanted somewhere fun &amp; unique for me and my parents to stay at when we first got to Toronto. The Le Germain was modern and although luxurious felt like a boutique hotel. I was looking for a few things in a hotel and it had all of them:</p>
<ul>
<li>Perfect location so we could walk everywhere. We could walk almost everywhere, but for places too far away, it was right outside Union Station so location couldn&#8217;t be better.</li>
<li>Two beds in a room so me and my parents could save money by getting only one room. Their &#8220;prestige&#8221; rooms had two beds.</li>
<li>Free Wi-Fi for all of us (some places have it for only two devices).</li>
<li>Continental breakfast, which was delicious.</li>
</ul>
<p>The only thing it didn&#8217;t have was a pool, but looking at other options none had outdoor pools, I guess because it&#8217;s so cold up in there.</p>
<h3>Rooms at Le Germain Maple Leaf Sqaure</h3>
<p>For me the rooms&#8217; most important feature is the bed! This place had the softest beds. In India, even the most top end hotels don&#8217;t have that amazing of bedding, so I was pretty stoked. It had a big goose down duvet and feather pillows. The bathroom was huge with a giant rainfall shower and products were by Molton Brown. I told my mom ahead of time the products would be good so not to pack shampoo and conditioner, and luckily was right.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-10989 size-full" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square2.jpg" alt="Best Family Hotel in Downtown Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square2-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square2.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>

<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-11001 size-full" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square14.jpg" alt="Best Family Hotel in Downtown Toronto" width="560" height="359" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square14-300x192.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square14-314x200.jpg 314w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square14.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" />Rooms had a coffee machine, music playing when you walked in, a safe, mini bar, magnifying mirror, plus all the other things most rooms have.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-10990 size-full" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square3.jpg" alt="Best Family Hotel in Downtown Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square3-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square3.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-10991 size-full" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square4.jpg" alt="Best Family Hotel in Downtown Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square4-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square4.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" />Down the hallways were these art features/ aka snacks of apples on lighted shelves. I joked to my mom <em>&#8220;You should take one for breakfast&#8221; </em>and immediately after the guy helping us with our bags said<em> </em><em>&#8220;You are welcome to take these apples whenever you want&#8221;. </em>Every time we walked to the elevator there was a different number of apples. Sadly, with the lighting they didn&#8217;t photograph well. But then, maybe you had to be there to get why we found it so amusing.</p>
<p>There was art of people playing sports or working out on the walls. It made me stop eating so many Cheez-its, so was much appreciated.</p>
<h3>Valet, Food, &amp; Concierge</h3>
<p>Other than a fitness room and lounge/bar, they had an amazing concierge who helped us plan out our day. Check out what we did in<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> <a href="https://hippie-inheels.com/family-vacation-in-toronto-things-to-do" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Toronto over 3 days</a></span> in this article.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-11000 size-full" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square13.jpg" alt="Best Family Hotel in Downtown Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square13-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square13.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-10999 size-full" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square12.jpg" alt="Best Family Hotel in Downtown Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square12-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square12.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-10998 size-full" src="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square11.jpg" alt="Best Family Hotel in Downtown Toronto" width="560" height="315" srcset="https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square11-300x169.jpg 300w, https://hippie-inheels.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/le-germain-maple-leaf-square11.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" />Valet was $10 more than parking in the nearby garage and was $40 per night. The benefit of valet is that you can have them bring the car out anytime and you still pay $40, while in a garage every time you exit you pay $30 again. But remember to calculate in the tip when you decide which can make valet add up quickly.</p>
<p>Breakfast was very yummy and had a great view out over the city. The offered all the coffee options, lunch meats, breads, salmon, boiled eggs, fruits, granola, yogurt, and a few other things. Breakfast goes until 11 AM so you can sleep in!</p>
