There are projects for slum redevelopment. However, most of the funds earmarked for redevelopment makes it way to corrupt official’s pockets. And whatever little houses are built for slum dwellers, they usually put it on rent and then go back to living in slums and look at it just as a source of income.

lovely pictures of the slums..in between buildings..never seen them like that..mini slum towns..looks like an infection in the middle of the city..

Rachel,
I did not even notice the ad. When I read what you wrote I looked back up and saw it, so I think it is no big deal. Make some money I say.
I have heard that housing has been built for people living in slums in Mumbai. However, I have also heard/read that it does not really work because the hi-rise buildings take the community out of living. I do not remember where I read/heard about this, but yeah I have heard it.
