Oh yes, I find myself saying very “Indian” things!

I have been reading your blogs of late, and have found the observations intriguing. :)
I moved from India to the US, about five years ago (‘years back’ :P). Over the years I have stopped using certain phrases I grew-up with, in India, as people here ‘don’t get it’.

You seem to have picked up some of the Indian English idiosyncrasies, like ‘She was shifting to a new apartment … ‘ instead of ‘moving to’ . I used to use ‘shift’ all the time before I ‘moved to’ the states. :)

I love ‘prepone’ and I believe it has made its way into the dictionary as a new word .

First off, your experience and advice have been an invaluable! My girlfriend and I have really enjoyed your site and are planning to visit India in a few weeks. We plan to stay 4-6 months.

Very funny story, i can’t imagine the disbelief she must have felt. On a related note, i’ve just recently purchased a portable batter for recharging our electronics on the go as well as a portable solar panel that i’m debating bringing. The panel is just over 1.5 lbs and is about the size of an iPad. *I mostly just think its super cool and would geek out in excitement if i used it even a handful of times. (particularly while trekking)

Think I’ll get enough opportunities to use it ?
