This reminded me of our own experience in Sri Lanka in the best hotel room, best bathroom, best view ever! We however, DID manage to get to Fort Galle ~ well worth it! Plus seeing the elephants was a huge highlight of the country, should you get back there!

Your review on Levels is spot on. Its a beautiful property and they have another one a bit passing Unawatuna. Its a shame you only had 2 days in Sri Lanka. Its one of the most diverse islands in the world.

Oh man I went to Unawatuna the year before last with my family and we just about fell in love with it. We loved it so much that we are heading back there for another Christmas in about two days.

My family loves travelling but is completely computer-illiterate, so I get to organise family trips. We stayed in Unawatuna at the CocoBay Resort which was fabulous and only 5 days old at the time. We went to Kandy and Dambulla as well as lots of little places around. My favorite spot was white water rafting and canyoning in Kithugala. It was a tropical jungle with a wide river following through. I can’t begin describe the magic of the mist on river in the jungle as the sunrises. Sigh. Maybe I should write about it. I think I have pics somewhere?

Thanks for getting me jazzed to go to Sri Lanka again.

Wow! That place looks amazing! Out of curiosity, what kind of camera do you use / do you edit your pictures before you post them? Have you done a post about cameras / photographs / editing that I have missed?

ps — I’m moving back to India next week! I’ll be in Bombay for a week and then in Bangalore full-time. I’ll email you once I’m settled, would love to meet you at some point during your travels!

Oh my goodness, that hotel looks divine! I wouldn’t want to leave, either! It’s so funny, my friend was just telling me about Sri Lanka yesterday and mentioned Unawatuna (I remembered the name because it sounds funny, sounds almost Hawaiian) and she RAVED about it. Now after this… I’m definitely adding it to my places to go list! :)

We were in Unawatuna in September and you aren’t lying about how stunning it is. But wow – we did not stay at a place like that! It looks like you guys had it to yourselves too!!
