I love that they gave you a security guard for the monkeys! haha! hilarious. wild little things :) Yes, we had that service as well, I think a lot of places in Ubud offer this as it’s such a hassle to get taxis there!

You’re so right. We went to Bali a few years ago and rented a house at a hotel resort in Ubud. We actually wanted the villa, but they were sold out and offered us the house instead! It had it’s own private rice paddy and because it was further back from the other villas wasn’t as popular with families with small children. As the Monkey Forest was a 10 minute walk away and the monkeys would climb over the wall! It was usally sold at $150 per nightm, but they gave us the whole house for $75 per night as our son was much older.

We didn’t have our own pool, but we had our own security guard (‘cos of the monkeys), and Afternoon Tea service, as well as free transport from and into “town”. We only had to ring up, and they would collect us anywhere in Ubud.
