Hey, everyone who is reading this, alot of the women that do “ping pong” shows and the like are actually sex slaves or are desperately poor and have no other means to support themselves. Please think twice before visiting one of these shows. You could be supporting extreme sexual exploitation and sex trafficking.

Twas expecting pics as I passed on ping pong. I played the pound the nail game and won. They were not too happy and tried to get the money I won, Not! The red light is such a contradiction; one one hand it’s good for a few laughs but serious issues with exploitation if you look deeper.

Seems that you handled the situation pretty mature :) Nice tips on how to do with scams.
I’m planning a trip to Thailand right now, will probably skip Bangkok, though, but Phuket might get on the list.

I went to a ping pong show in BKK to see what all the fuss was about.. Kinda wish I didn’t. I’m not all save the world and what not, but that shit just seemed really wrong. I left pretty quickly because you could tell the girls weren’t in it out of free will. Seemed like something horrible probably went on behind the scenes. I wouldn’t support it ever again.

Hahahah, yes, I went to see a Ping Pong show aka Tiger Show aka actually they’re call it a Thai Girl Show but it sounds like Tiger Show when I was in Bangkok before. I had gone with some locals friends though who went around asking exactly how much they were and where should we sit etc. Given we were with locals, there was not a single attempt to cheat us at all. In fact everyone was very respectful, bowing down and saying thanks (both customer and server) and just sitting and watching the show. Guess you can tell we were the group of tourists with our jaws hanging down

Ha! I’ve seen a ping pong show in Bangkok TWICE! The second time, I took my husband to see it for a laugh. He’s trying to forget he saw it. When we were there, the place was filled with a huge group of drunk young British couples.

I went to the pingpong show out of curiosity, ready to be shocked… But when it came down to it, I found it quite off putting. I prefered the prostitute midget boxing in Manila’s red light district… At least they were (pretending to?) having a laugh. :)

What skeeves me out about the ping pong show thing isn’t the show isn’t the show itself, it’s how the girls were able to hone their “talent”. Like did they sit around with their girlfriends one day and think “Hey, I wonder if I can smoke a cigarette with my $%^&*” haha. I get bored sometimes but never THAT bored.

I’ve been to Amsterdam 3 nights now, and we have our own baby Red Light District in my city in Germany, but it’s still something I can’t get used to. This is probably the Texas influence, but I’m shocked every time I see a giddy boy walk out of a room. Your story so reminds me of the scene in Van Wilder, if you ever saw that movie. I would definitely want to see a show; the surrounding aspects added in are what seemed to make the whole experience extra unsettling.
