Let’s talk good food… these are the places I ate based of recommendations on the best food in Pune. I only had 2 days, so I really stuffed myself full trying to research. I blame it on you guys! I definitely need to go back and try more places next time because this is not a full guide, just what I had time for.
First stop was the famous knock-off Burger King.
Everyone I know raves that it’s great. Before you start thinking, “wow you didn’t even get Indian food” you should know I was the only westerner there- among at least 60 Indian people on their lunch break. The place is super popular and packed full of locals.
Funnily enough, they called out your name when food is ready…. and the guy I’m guessing couldn’t pronounce my name so just didn’t give me my food. Everyone who ordered after me ate, but I didn’t ask because a sign said “may take 45 minutes, do not ask you for your food!” I waited 50 minutes to ask and they tried to give me a cold burger that had been sitting for 30 minutes, but when I said it’s cold they made me a new one. I should have said my name was Priyanka Chopra.
- Fries, a King burger (don’t order it, it’s HUGE!) and a coke it was Rs. 130
Location: Next to ABC Farms, North Main Road, Koregaon Park
WTF Pune
Next up, we went to Seasons Mall where our friend Tally was bartending at the new WTF restaurant and bar. It’s a great place to have some drinks, chill, and eat dinner. Other options in the mall included TGIF, Quiznos, Mainland China, and more. There is another WTF that is more crowded in Vieman Nagar.
Location: 2nd floor, East Court, Phoenix Market City, Opposite Giga Space, Viman Nagar or for the one: Seasons mall, Magarpatta city
Jimmy Hu’s & Brooklyn Shuffle
That night we went for dinner and drinks back in Koregaon Park at Jimmy Hu. It’s a Thai restaurant which the best Thai food I’ve had in India. Delicious pork, beef skewers, chicken momos, and crispy spicy chicken wings. We had some drinks here and also checked out the place next door.
Next door is Brooklyn shuffle, an American diner. I absolutely loved the décor here and they have the best burgers in town.

Location: Sanskruti Lifestyle Complex, Opposite Post 91, Lane 7, Koregaon Park
ABC Farms
ABC Farms is another hot spot in Koregaon Park. It’s near Burger King and the Westin and is a back lane with about 6 restaurants lining it. It was completely shut down in the day time and I didn’t see anyone in the area. At night it comes alive and from Europen finer dining to craft beers and a hooka bar, there’s something for everyone. Most popular restaurants include: Shisha jazz café, Arc Asia, Habibi, and Curve.
Others I wish I had time to try:
As I mentioned in my intro on Pune, the German Bakery looked the same as they do elsewhere in India and is worth a visit. Malaka Spice came highly recommended but I couldn’t find it, had no 3g, and no one seemed to know of it. Kayani Bakery and Blue Nile in Camp were also highly recommended as well but it was too far for me to go in my short time there.
As I said in my Pune mini guide, it’s difficult to get around without maps and a clear idea of where you want to go (and in which order). The drivers were pretty useless. I would love to rent a car next time.

Lol @ Priyanka Chopra! In Japan I was permanently “Shirubia,” and I had to switch to my middle name Bettina for several months while living with Burmese refugees because none of them could begin to pronounce Silvia. At least you finally got your food!
Thanks for commenting, Shirubia! lol ;) how funny
I think I’d be really pissed if I had to wait 50 minutes for a cold burger! All the food at Brooklyn Shuffle looks so good. I’m dying to find a good old American diner here in Jakarta!!
Yeah, it wasn’t ideal lol. Especially since it was lunch break time and it was packed in there so I think the locals thought I wasn’t eating, bust just taking up a seat! everyone was staring me down. haha
Man, Pune was a rough place for getting your name right! First it was ‘Rita’ then these people just ignore you all-together :) The food looks delish, BTW!
Lol, good point!! I hadn’t even thought of that. So maybe I should have told the burger place my name was Rita. bam!
I would just go crazy eating in India! I love that there’s authentic American eats mixed in – something that’s oddly hard to come by in Germany.
Yeah, there are very few. No real american ones in Goa, so I was stoked to see this one in Pune. Some are in Bombay. But mostly, we get SE Asia, Thai, Chinese, and European.
Nice going Rachel. I’m not one for burgers or beef for that matter, but I do like trying burgers in other countries, just to see what it’s like. I remember going to an Indian version of McDonalds in Delhi. Very interesting. With lamb!
Wow, I haven’t seen one with lamb! The one in bombay was with just potato. the KFC isn’t bad ;)
I love the decor at the Brooklyn Shuffle! And now I really fancy some onion rings!
oh man, doesn’t that sound good!
Good to see that you did enjoy the visit. And the food too.:p
Next time give Chilli’s a try (Floor-UG ,Phoenix Market city mall, Vimaan nagar). The baby black ribs are too good and don’t forget to check out the margarita’s too(Presidente margarita to be specific). Quessedilla’s and fajita’s too. :p That sums it up. :D
Nice post Rachel! ;) :)
Thanks for the tips! Awesome :)
whatever you mentioned are good but there are few more places that you need to visit if you come the next time.
1. Darios at koregaon park, next to osho ahsram (Italian)
2. Tertulia at koregaon park, neaer Burger Barn (Continental)
3. Asian Box at koregaon park, next to pizza hut street (South East Asian Cuisine, owner is a singaporean)
4.Sweet chariot for coffee on the north main road koregaon park
5. Olive Bistro (inside poona club, Camp) italian and mexican
6. Medinah (Bhavani Peth, Camp) for some really cheap mughal and arabic cusine
7. China Room (Camp)
More are there but these would be enough to get the vibe.
i will give you an app which would solve most of the problems in unknown cities. its called WAM (World Around Me) it works on GPS and if you point your phone in any particular direction, it shows all the results in the category you are looking for. with reviews, maps, menu if availlble and contact number. it really makes your job easy.
for restaurants you can use Zomato in pune. Now the Zomato app has restaurants categorized (Pocket Friendly, Continental, Mediterranean….etc) and much more easy to find the kind of restaurant you are looking for.
Hope it helps!!!!
Thank you for all your advice
