Welcome back to This is India! I always have funny/weird stories about India to share with friends or family when I talk to them. This is just meant to be an honest portrayal about my life in India through short anecdotes. I also share here what I’ve been up to online outside Hippie in Heels.

What I was up to other than here:

  • I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving! Ben insisted on making Thanksgiving dinner since he had two “yanks” in the house. I’ll write about it next week I think – it’s always fun (not) cooking a full meal for 5 with a tiny toaster oven.
  • I’ve been on vacation mode since my friend Ann is here visiting. That means beach time! I’ve been taking her to my favorite restaurants and bars here in Goa, along with Ben.
  • This weekend Ann leaves and Ben goes back to work in Maharashtra, so I’ll be back on work mode.
  • My website theme change actually isn’t finished (small touches still to be done) and I need to upgrade to a new web host so that’s my priority this week.

Now your story,

I mentioned that I’d show you all the updates I did to the house! I also got to try out my new Panasonic wide angle lens to take these shots.

I wrote before about how Ben built a couch out of palettes.

You can see the Moroccan leather poufs.. I have three around the house. I also got these awesome white sequin pillows there. I had the chairs upholstered that sea green color.

It’s the cats new favorite sleeping place.

I painted the little tables gold and got the couch covered with a pink color fabric.

Picked up those placemats in Morocco for a couple bucks and got the chairs for this dining room table re-padded and covered with new fabric. I added some ceramic pots and plants/bamboo around the house.goa house

The kitchen cabinets are finished. I WISH I didn’t have yellow floor and wall tiles in the kitchen. They are the worst! It’s like 50k Rs. (nearly a grand) to get new tiles so obviously just going to leave them.

Got the steel rack for my clothes and new curtains in every single room which are WAY too expensive in India.

That big wardrobe is also mine… Ben’s is that tiny one to the left, he has 3 shelves which is actually all he needs but he jokes I took all his space. goa house

One of my many Moroccan baskets! Now a towel holder.

Lastly, the balcony where I put most of the furniture I painted. The gold tables are scattered around the house too though. I made some covers for them. The gold covers aren’t my favorite but I was running out of budget for this and the fabric was cheap.

That’s pretty much it! A lot of stuff you can’t “see” like adding hot water to our kitchen and getting plumbing for a washing machine. I also cleaned out every single cabinets and nook and cranny in the house so it’s clutter-free (that book the [easyazon_link identifier=”1607747308″ locale=”US” tag=”Hipinhee-20″]art of tidying up[/easyazon_link]has really stuck lol).

This house also has two more bedrooms I had to re-do and all together has 4 bathrooms which I bought stuff for. Had to get a new hamper, trash cans, rugs, curtains, etc because stuff just doesn’t last that long here with it raining 5 months straight every year.

Finally I’m done organizing the house! Now I have to organize my blog for which I have a huge checklist of things to do.

I also need to train my dogs because they want to destroy my now perfect house haha!

This is India!
