Welcome back to This is India! I always have funny/weird stories about India to share with friends or family when I talk to them. This is just meant to be an honest portrayal about my life in India through short anecdotes. I also share here what I’ve been up to online outside Hippie in Heels.

What I was up to other than here:

  • Ben and I are in Tonbridge/ Tunbridge Wells/ London this week. We’ve been keeping busy going to Hastings and Rye with his family which were such cute towns. I tried a real fish n chips as well. His little brother has been spoiled with bowling, 2 arcades, bumper cars and more! It’s been fun but is going by too fast. Sunday we go to Vienna. Oh and of course we’ve been eating a LOT. Ben’s friends are saying they’ve never felt so unhealthy.
  • My dog in Ohio, Brandi, passed away. She was 12 and had cancer. So, obviously that’s really sad. Send my parents happy thoughts to cheer them up!
  • Nothing new in the blogging world. You might have noticed my site was down. Had some server (geek) issues but it should be all good now!

Now your story,

Ben noticed this in the ATM by Bobby Bar:

this is india lucky numbers

We thought it was pretty funny and unique to India. People here can be very superstitious & having lucky numbers is important, even incentive to open an “elite account”.

I’ve told you before about some superstitions like hanging a dummy outside their houses to ward off bad spirits, chili on their car bumpers, or not building a second floor.

Here is an article that tells 13 superstitions that Indians follow. One of them is that 13 is very unlucky. You will notice in India that the row 13 sometimes misses on Indian airlines and there is no 13th floor listed on the elevators. Another one you’ll notice is the “luck” on babies made with kajal that looks like a birth mark or dirt.

This is India!
