This post is in partnership with Kohls.
If you’ve been reading my blog for some time, then I’m sure you can imagine my excitement when an email from Kohl’s pinged into my inbox. My mom and I have always been Kohl’s fans – even in Jr. High, I remember it was THE place to go back to school shopping.
When I would come home from India, my mom and I would wake up on Saturday, have our coffee, and pop out to Kohl’s where I would somehow wiggle my way into stealing her Kohl’s cash. She also has a Kohl’s card, so ends up paying for my stuff (don’t worry I pay her back) so that I can get all the crazy discounts.
It’s just been a store that feels like home to me, a place I know I’l get great quality and deals, and somewhere I’ve always gone for accessories and homewares. For example, I buy all my earrings here for my “multiple” holes in my ears. I get the baby size ones because they fit so great in cartilage and are basically always 70% off.
But, as I got older I stopped shopping for clothes at Kohls. The juniors stuff was definitely too young, but the women’s stuff was a little too old. I love Lauren Conrads stuff, but it felt too girly and frilly for me.
Enter: the POPSUGAR collection.
Kohls teamed up with POPSUGAR and asked me to try out their new collection on my travels. I got to pick out a couple of outfits online and I took them to New Orleans. I actually had a hard time choosing because there are a lot of cute options. I wasn’t sure how they would look in person so tried to go with “basics” that would mix and match well.
You can read more about the whole collection here. Their collection tagline is “These are the clothes we live in, play in and love in. What we wear when we need to put on our funny face, our game face, or no face at all. Curated by POPSUGAR for you, we call these the basics for the not so basic. Just like you.”
The package arrived at my hotel in New Orleans and Sam and I were so impressed with the quality of this dress! I think she’s going to get one herself. You can’t see it that well because of the print, but there is a belt that is the same print that cinches at the waist.
I loved wearing the jacket around my waist as the day got hotter, and with a pair of sunglasses added really makes a cool casual outfit. I got a size small in the dress and jacket.
Check out the other dress colors here.
See details on the jean jacket here.
For my next outfit, I wanted something comfortable I could wear to the airport and feel cute but also be able to sleep on the plane or lounge around in at the hotel. I got leggings and this cute sweater that says “believe”. I got size small in both.
The sweater is not too thick, not too thin, but very soft. The leggings are unlike any I’ve had before – they are more like pants with a zipper at the ankles because they are very thick. I like this for a few reasons: one they will be warm on planes, two they look put-together because they almost look like black dress pants, and three they don’t show your curves/cling to you and look inappropriate like some leggings can.
These are the normal prices, but Kohls is always running sales. Right now, when I’m writing this there is a code that is for 20% all these pieces but it’ll be expired by the time this is up – I’m sure it’ll be replaced with a new on, though!
As you can see above, the POPSUGAR collection is one that I’ll keep going back to. Here are some other pieces that I was choosing between that I think you’ll like.
Nice threads Rachel. My mom was also a Kohl’s mom. We did our shopping there for clothes. Quality duds and great deals too. I think my dad still has a Kohl’s card these days.
