Welcome back to This is India! I always have funny/weird stories about India to share with friends or family when I talk to them. This is just meant to be an honest portrayal about my life in India through short anecdotes. I also share here what I’ve been up to online outside Hippie in Heels.
What I was up to other than here:
- I’ve just left Israel and came to England to meet Ben and his family. I’ll be here through the end of the month between London and Ben’s mom’s house in Kent.
- I CANNOT WAIT TO TELL YOU ALL ABOUT ISRAEL! I haven’t been on a trip this good in SO long. I LOVE Tel Aviv and the whole country. Everyone is so chilled out, the vibe is like electric… I have so much to write about! But as always, I am behind on work and it will be maybe a month before I have these articles live. Until then, I hope you are following my Instagram – if not click here and you can see some amazing photos from Israel.
- I’m reading the follow up to Me Before You, which is called [easyazon_link identifier=”0143108867″ locale=”US” tag=”Hipinhee-20″]After You[/easyazon_link].
Now your story,
I’ve written about Dahi Handi before and explained why it’s my favorite festival in India. I went again this year and filmed some shaky, grainy, footage from my phone. I made a video. I warn you it’s quite terrible but it does show what it’s like at Dahi Handi. It’s a little crowded and chaotic so I’ve done my best to capture. Most of this footage is downloaded from my Instagram story which makes it even grainer. It’s difficult to keep up on social media platforms sometimes!
I hope you like this video and hopefully the next one I make will be with footage from my new camera! I was afraid to take it out this night since there was color and water throwing.
This is India!

OMG those guys like to rave! Really wasn’t expecting them to be dancing to techno/EDM haha. It looked like an amazing festival, I’d love to go some day. Thank you for making me smile :)
Haha yes I always tell people that even at a 2 year old birthday party in the village in Goa, they are playing this music :)
As I sit here at 5 am getting ready for my nursing shift all I can think about is travel and adventure……it’s so inspiring to see someone take a leap of faith and live their dreams! India is definitely on my must do adventure list ☺
Hi Rhiannon, ahhh 5 am getting ready for work.. I feel ya! I had to do night shift because I was such a bad morning person :) Hope you make it to India!
