Namrata Puri, fashionista, the girl behind Doe Design, and my all time favorite person to go to dinner with is ready to spill on the best spots to eat in Delhi. Unlike most girls, Nami orders a starter (or two), a main course, a few drinks, and a dessert. A girl after my own heart. When we leave lunch, we’re in the car talking about where we should go for dinner. I’m going to pass it over to Nami, the first person’s advice I would trust for where to eat in Delhi.
Top 10 Best Restaurants in Delhi
1. China club // Gurgaon
I love the food here! It’s Chinese without the Indian twist. The service is amazing and the hosts always have great recommendations. I’m super bias to Asian cuisine so you may see multiple Asian restaurants but each one is different is very worth mentioning.
Must try dishes at China Club:
- Double cooked pork /lamb
- Ye Shan chilly lamb (it’s a special little chilly called ye Shan and has a sour spicy taste ). It’s delicious!
- The egg fried rice is the best in the city
- Tenderloin hot pot is spicy wholesome goodness: Diced pieces of tenderloin are drenched in this sticky spice sauce full of Szechwan peppercorn bamboo shoots and a variety of ingredients. You can get the same in lamb as well.
The only thing missing at this restaurant is dessert. Barring the chocolate cake that you get if it’s a special occasion like a birthday or an anniversary, the desserts aren’t up to the mark. But the food is amazing and the service is impeccable.
2. Yuatcha // Vasante Kunj
Recently opened in Delhi, it’s a restaurant around the world and has a Michelin start in London. I expected it to be super fancy and very expensive but to my surprise it’s pretty chilled. The restaurant resembles a fancy canteen; pretty basic but chic in it’s own way. The menu is endless. They’re known for their dimsums and they do that reputation full justice. I almost never end up ordering mains because we’ve almost always eaten way too many dimsums. This place is by far the best in terms of exquisite dessert!
Must try dishes at Yuatcha:
- prawn cheng fun- it’s hard to explain, it has a layer of crispy fried prawn inside a really soft roll and is drowned in soya chilly sauce on presentation .. Mmmm I have to go eat that soon!
- chicken wrapped in pak choi
- Poached Peking dumpling
- pork and prawn pan fried dumpling and the hargau
- Desserts: milk chocolate praline, praline glance milk chocolate mousse salted caramel and peanut insert with a Chocolate glazing in top served with lemon sorbet
INFO: Level 2, Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. Hours 12 Noon to 12 Midnight.
3. Nanking- Canton Spice // Gurgaon
This restaurant is like home to me and it’s arguably one of the best Chinese restaurants in Delhi for donkey’s years! I think it opened it’s first branch way back in the 90’s in Bombay before coming to Delhi. People complain that it hasn’t had a fancy facelift to compete with all the up and coming restaurants in Delhi but they have a super loyal customer base. The food is Mongolian inspired Chinese so it’s not really spicy but it’s really interesting and the menu is one of a kind. The restaurant has two locations; one in Central Delhi and one in DLF.
Must try dishes at Canton Spice:
- concurd (think crispy juicy pieces of sweet corn soup if that makes sense)
- Mongolian chicken
- crab tossed in pepper and chinese greens
- Hakka noodles
- The pepper prawns and the crabmeat manchow soup .. It’s all heavenly !
INFO: 17-18, Cyber Hub, DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon. Hours 12 Noon to 11 PM.
4. Guppy by ai // Lodhi Colony
When I’m Goa I can’t get enough of the Japanese food at Sakana; it’s my all time favourite. Guppy by Ai is my answer in Delhi for when I’m looking for food similar to Sakana. I’m not a sushi fan, but I love Japanese ingredients and cooking styles. Yakiniku, teriyaki and gyozas are my favourites.
Must try dishes at Guppy by Ai:
- beef stir fries and garlic fried rice
- prawn potstickers
- black cod
INFO: 28, Main Market, Lodhi Colony, New Delhi. Hours 12 Noon to 3:30 PM, 7 PM to 1 AM. Happy hour from 5-8.
5. Cafe @ the Hyatt // Bhikaji Cama Place
This is my go to meal after a really big night out! My friends and I love it and it’s one of the few places you actually get beef in Delhi, not buffalo! Winning! The bacon is of top notch quality. At 4 in the morning most things would taste amazing, but this sends us into an orbit of deliciousness! Yes we’ve sat there and ordered a portion of bacon for the table as a starter…
Must try at the Hyatt:
- Beef Burgers all the way!
INFO: Hyatt Regency, Bhikaji Cama Place. Open 24 Hours.
6. Gung the Palace // Green Park
This place serves authentic Korean food! The BBQ dishes are to die for. It’s a bit expensive, but worth it. Try soju, a traditional Korean rice wine .. One bottle is good for 4 people.Trust me this stuff is potent and super fun. They have karaoke at the restaurant which makes it a super fun experience after that soju goes down… I won’t give u proof ;)

- The BBQ pork and beef
- traditional noodle dishes
INFO: D 1B, Near Ashirwad Complex, Green Park. Hours 12 Noon to 10:30 PM

This is my favourite Goan cuisine restaurant. Run by a Goan couple the food is delightful. Each dish is prepared by the lady who owns the place and each dish will take you back to your favourite Goan meal.
Must trys at Bernandos:
- The rechand prawns are sometimes better than what I eat in Goa
INFO: A 236, Super Mart 1, DLF Phase 4, Gurgaon. Hours 1 PM to 3:30 PM, 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM (Mon, Wed-Sun), Tuesday Closed.
10. Tonino // Mehrauli
For a perfect little italian escape in the middle of Delhi one can escape to tonino’s! The music, the decor and the ambience transfer you to a classic Italian street restaurant tucked away in a beautiful ally. I was just there this week with my mom for brunch!

thanks….perfect timing my daughter is off to Delhi this week, so I will pass this on and maybe she can go. Nothing like experiencing the food of a new culture to feel you are truly there.
Perfect! I hope she likes them :)
My God, the food looks phenomenal – those prawns! Will definitely be trying some of these out while we’re in Delhi!
You so should! THere’s an insane amount of good chinese food in India- but not like American Chinese.
I think if I were in India all I would do is eat. All of these places sound AMAZING!
Yes most likely, ALL I do is eat! Especially in monsoon… then I gain about 5 lbs and cry a bit about it, haha it’s terrible.
Nom Nom! And errrm yum! That’s for getting me hungry :-)
haha sorry I hate when bloggers do that to me! lol
You made me so hungry, even if I just ate! What can a hippie be doing in Delhi… :)
haha, good question!
